Seems like it, i think them freezing up was them kinda suprised because it seems like the player doesn't communicate with them because he can't talk, that or they are a little afraid of him because the player basically is god, or it could be he likes them to freeze up to clear any props or something like that to keep continuity between shots, it would be kinda weird to have a ragdoll model be in a different place each shot

@@troyyescas Yeah, I think the ragdolls freezing up are just them being good sports by staying still so Plastic can clear up any props for the next scene, or letting them be moved around and stuff. although I think the fact that Plastic gave Ellis a toolgun (and a physgun) is him basically saying "Hey, go do stuff. I make machinimas, you can too." So I expect to see ragdoll made machinimas in the future

I like the interpretation that this arg is going for with the “Sentient NPCs” idea. Neither the player nor the NPCs have a sort of horror relationship of one being scared by the other. Rather it’s more like a Director and his actors. But the horror comes from one of the “actors” becoming demented following an accident and/or countless roles where he is being antagonized. Overall: Really interesting take on the Gmod ARG

I think the whole "The player isnt malicious towards the Ragdolls" is actually a lot more natural tbh. Not that I dont like the angle of the player being the antagonist but I feel like it would be more common that people wouldnt openly abuse them when they realize the ragdolls are alive.

@19$ fortnite card who want it i checked back and i saw the model was the same as Rochelle, since she did not appear anywhere in any video, it will be some kind of hint that Rochelle will be a new character in a new video, as if so, but i think, this is the script for Rochelle's story on how she's there, Rochelle was fine sitting on a bench, something felt weird as if there were no more people and cars, The Player saw Rochelle, The Player moved her somewhere so he can make Chicken Hour, and, it was nighttime. The Player decided to move Rochelle to his channel banner, then got to make After Hours. just a random script i wrote i know this script wont be canon to PlasticApple2011 lore and it wont happen.

I love the spin this ARG takes to separate itself from Badwater and Gunslinger: Since these videos are supposedly made in 2011, instead of 2009, the qualities a bit better. The theme revolves more around the L4D2 characters, instead of TF2. And while it does use the idea that the NPCs are alive, it doesn't have the player as the main antagonist, with instead having Nick possessed by this demon.

One thing that I like about this ARG, is how the player isn't as "malicious" as the earlier Gmod players, such as Gunslingerpro or BadWater. It's nice to know that not everyone would be abusive to sentient ragdolls if they were aware of their existence.

I know for sure that if I was goofing off on gm_bigcity and I found out that the Barney ragdoll I placed earlier was actually sentient, I'd probably treat it with as much respect as possible. I mean, I don't think messing with possessed ragdolls is a good idea because they might uninstall Counter-Strike Source, or worse.

If I were to create an ARG, I'd do something like a sentient spawnmenu that would spawn things I didn't want to be there, sentient props or even a sentient map. Living ragdolls are kinda being overdone, we have 3 living ragdoll channels now

What I’ve gathered is the Player is more of a writer and director. He isn’t evil and the characters aren’t scared of him but rather he’s responsible with them and as silly as Ellis is he gives him the means to be similar to him with a tool and phys. Gun. Coach, Nick, and Ellis are all actors but Nick got genuinely injured and Ellis’ freeze up was likely from him being genuinely caught off guard by the player showing up on camera because that’s Not supposed to happen. He’s confused. Same thing happened with Coach. He froze. Player entered, confused and even mentions Nicks involvement with the short was not in the script but he decides it was ok since it didn’t conflict with the original plans. Edit: Also something interesting and I believe of note is that all the characters in L4D and L4D2 are actors in films. When the end credits roll you see who survived, the deceased get a memorial tag, the number of Zombies killed is shown on screen with a “this many zombies were hurt in the making of this production” tag shows up, and even the games enemy AI spawner, “The Director” is a nod to this. So it’s not outside the possibility that these characters are actors as well.

It would be interesting if someone combined both the scared player and living NPC ideas, I can imagine a video of someone setting up ragdolls for an animation and whenever they turn around the ragdolls change position slightly, i.e. eyes shifting, heads turning to face the player, facial expressions changing, or even moving closer with each turn weeping angels style. Someone may have already done this, but I think it would be cool even for just a one-off horror short.

I had this idea expect: the shadow man is a player and all of a sudden another player joins his singleplayer game and the original player gets a mark of sorts, his skin becomes fully black, he cant leave the game only minimize it and he has to hide from the other player which he presumes to be a hacker of sorts. And he finds a underground tunnel where people with similar problems can go through to other places where another person has the same problem, and he has to help them and in return they will help him. And so on

Every gmod ARG introduces 1 new element to their ARG: Classic gmod videos: the subtle fear of being alone in gmod. (Shadow figures.) Gunslingerpro2009: the only thing they fear is YOU. (ragdolls who are protagonists are scared of the player who is technically the antagonist) Badwatervideos2009: afraid of the darkrooms (the ragdolls can use the dark rooms to hide.) Plasticapple2011: one of the ragdolls is the player's favorite, whilst one of the ragdolls are jealous and want vengeance. (thus making the player not the antagonist anymore, and makes one of the ragdolls the antagonist)

Seeing L4D2 characters, and the fact that the NPCs have somewhat of a friendship with the player (at least Ellis does) makes this a lot more original and interesting. Looking forward to more videos!

I like this one a lot, for a few reasons: - The smooth, keyframed animation makes it stand out from the others trying to imitate 2008-2009 era GMod, which is an era I don't really have nostalgia for personally. - The ragdolls being on good terms with the player open up some possibilities that the other Player vs Ragdolls ARGs can't do. - Giving God-level creation tools to a ragdoll is a very interesting idea. - Placing this ARG in the 2011 era means it's not limited to the default GMod maps (and the less gm_construct dark room we have to see, the better.)

I have a feeling PA hates Nick so much is because Nick and Ellis had a big “”””””rivalry””””” in their voice lines, causing Nick to be his least favorite of the bunch. Also it seems that the player cares deeply about the rag dolls. I love the way these Gmod ARGs are evolving; first the player was the victim of some unknown horror stalking them, then the player was a heartless monster who abused some living ragdolls, now both are more or less in equal terms except for one individual who's getting fed up with how he's been treated. I think the character dynamics are a lot more nuanced and human-like in this ARG, definitely my favorite so far.

Like others have said i love that with the plasticapple ARG, is that the player isn't some sadistic force that torments the ragdolls, but is more so just a normal person, making gmod animations, giving the ragdolls freedom and interaction, and even possibly worrying for them (player returning to cs_office for example) its refreshing compared to the evil player idea, (though that also isn't to say that the idea of an evil player is bad either)

Now that I'm watching this again, another thought hit me when you mentioned the Toy Story comparison. Maybe the characters in this series are just acting like ragdolls, at least until something happens. Maybe Nick and Ellis are the only ones that Plastic Apple realizes are alive, seeing as Coach only seems to move on his own when Plastic Apple isn't there. By this logic, Coach probably still thinks he has to keep up the act. Ellis probably didn't realize that Plastic Apple saw him move at some point, and just decided to be openly alive once the secret was revealed. In Nick's case, he might just be angry enough to not care anymore.

It's a really interesting take on the regular GMOD ARG stuff. It's pretty hard to believe that people upon discovering sentient ragdolls, would abuse them. The Player in this scenario takes a pretty chill attituide to the ragdolls, even letting them be in videos they weren't supposed to be in, and giving Ellis a toolgun and physgun. The Player even goes back to check on Nick in the second video. The most the Player ever does is grab Ellis when he tries to shoot him, and it seems to be just to dissarm Nick. Instead of the Player being a godlike anatagonist, he is instead just a Director, and the ragdolls his friends and actors. The antagonist instead is a demented Sentient Nick, who's anger with Ellis combined with damage from shooting himself, has caused him to become angry at the Player and Sentient Ragdolls.

Nah, it's not stale yet (at least according to this community's logic) The "ragdolls are alive" concept itself, however? Yeah. People are starting to have the exact same complaints they had about the "shadow figure" ARGs (Classic GM videos and Gmod9fan reuploads) about how it's "overused" and "cliched"

I’m seeing a pattern with these ARGS, first we had a spooky shadow figure, then we had the player tormenting the ragdolls, now we see the ragdolls (presumably) fighting back.

That first video actually had amazing build up. It does lure the viewer in with a false sense of security, like the most stereotypical GMod video of that time… until Nick gets hit by the ricocheted bullet. A seriously great introduction to a GMod ARG if I’ve ever seen one.

seeing the way that the sentient ragdolls and player react to each other like they're acquaintances is kinda nice, if nick hadn't gotten shot in the head, it'd feel like the whole story would've almost be like a slice of life of sorts. I like the idea of a player and sentient npcs just, actually hanging out

I had an idea for a Gmod ARG where the player is making machinimas and he keeps "respawining" ragdolls that can't move on their own, but are sentient. It focuses on one unique ragdoll, and it's slowly figuring out that the other ragdolls aren't coming back when respawned, but are entirely different clones of the original ragdoll. And eventually the player also figures it out. Not sure how to play it out, and I don't have the dedication to make it.

I really like this one. It's nice to know the player isn't the antagonist for once. They had a moment there to throw Coach around, but they didn't. The only reason they attacked Nick was that they tried to attack as well. It's refreshing to see a concept taken by these args tooled around with a bit to make something new.
