​@@TCMVCinemaShorts no, bro just loves doing it, there are no addictive compounds in it or anything he just loves being garbage goober, loves the taste probably, I know of a civil engineer that chose to simply work on the factory floor for the wage that comes with it because he is not comfortable in leadership positions and doesn't like the actual engineering jobs a friend of mine is a veterinarian and she hates the job, she can't deal with people or the stress of diagnosing what's wrong with an animal, she now works with a government agency but she still hates it, my sister is a doctor and she really doesn't like it or care much about material wealth so she never became a housedoctor but worked for the government as a doctor instead and now tries to get a degree in functional medicine instead I am studying history whilst working for my parents and I wil probably end up taking over one of their companies instead of doing something with my degree (and for the record historians do have a fair number of opportunities, most people working for inteligence agencies are usually historians, the field is all about finding and translating information as well as identifying forgeries, I could also work for the ECB making graphs) but yeah tons of people end up not using their degrees, maybe less so in the US where you pay full price for your studies but still sometimes people realize to late that their field of study really is not for them, and often they just finish their studies cause it's to late to stop those by then but really don't want to do a job they hate all their lives,

He is being used for a humiliating task just because Rick couldn't be bothered with using mindless machines. He lacks the confidence and courage to face Rick and tell him he won't take it anymore. He even said he's been letting them treat him like this for so long, he can't stop. That's not something a content and happy person would say about their job. He can't even dare to think of changing the status quo for more than a few seconds. He is addicted. But there are no addictive compounds in it, how can he be addicted? You know what else doesn't have any addictive compounds? Gambling, stealing, pornography. Wonder how people get addicted to things that don't include addictive compounds? There are a couple of things called prolonged exposure and growing complacent. It's a clear case of that.

And let's talk about the wife. Ignoring the incel presence coming out of your replies, the wife had all the right to be mad at him (just read the first part again). But if it isn't clear yet, imagine you have someone who loves you and you love back. You two built this family, know everything about each other, help each other in your success, and share your struggles. And then they start changing, and not for the better. They slowly become less and less of what you knew them before as they throw away their self respect with each banana peel, each soda can, each leftovers they eat. Would you not try to help them stop this? Or atleast try to convince them that this isn't right?
