Been playing Tai Chi for 40 years and everything that Hotton Sensei shared, I've heard come out of my own mouth in the last few years. This is NOT to equate me, to Hotton Sensei, only to say that I have found Tai Chi at the "end" of decades of Karate and Karate at the "end" of decades of Tai Chi. As he says, "this is not woowoo" (although I guess it does sound like it sometimes)! All the best to my Karateka brothers and sisters!...be well....enjoy....peace

I live in Santa Rosa. Would have love to been there. Rick is true Shotokan. May have fought him years ago.

First time I've seen these posts. There's a Sensei who knows what he's taking about, hips, forward movement on the technique and core strength.

I see the roots of my martial art in shotokan, I agree with his principles of form, and his explanation of coordinating the elements of power, well more his demonstration of hip rotation , crossing over , and turn and stop, along with being fluid and relaxed but strength in transmitting power is good

Why I started Shotokan. Creating power from the. Feet to the hips to the fist.

Sensei used to walk behind us. And tap our shoulders down. Use your hips and latts.
