Before he got exposed by the Thai fighter and reinveted himself.

Roufus didn't "reinvent" himself until a decade after that, at which point he completely committed to a different rule set.

@@KeyserSoze23I feel like Changpuek vs Rick Roufus really exposed the full contact scene in general as not being a very high level kickboxing style

It's kind of funny to think that it took the early inventors of karate witnessing the French military do hand to hand combat exercises all the way across the world in the Pacific, and then marines being stationed on Okinawa learning Shotokan and coming home bringing the tradition of karate back with them, plus over two decades of karate being in the United States to finally, with the introduction of full contact kickboxing rules for Americans to finally come up with Savate without shoes. They could have just learned it from the French soldiers fighting alongside the revolutionaries against the British crown during the war of independence, and combined it with English boxing here in like 1790, but instead we waited 170 years to have no shoe Savate.

Certainly an interesting topic to reflect on! I think savate has more in common with international rules than full contact. The low kicks, y'know.
@christophernewton84745 ай бұрын
That is true, but at least in terms of stance and style, Savate only allows kicking with the shoe, so low kicks in savate are a bit different than low kicks in K1 or MT, and so the stances at least in this fight end up looking more like Savate.

Where do you get all these tapes from? Great channel.

Some I buy from private retailers, but most of this footage is available on other video platforming sites. This fight in particular came from Vimeo.
