Especially since there is a pretty simple explanation for the Doctor's immunity beyond being a Time Lord. Millenia of exposure to time travel has altered the Doctor fundamentally so that he's developed an almost unparalleled resistance to time based shenanigans. It's also why things that collapse probability like that stock market device probably wouldn't work on him either, even fate itself struggles to dictate what the Doctor himself can and can't do.

@IS-2 Heavy Tank most of that is through comics though. So lots of the recorded feats would be it's on page 9 of issue X. For Who there are episodes that range from 20 mins to 60 mins in length. It has many comics of its own. Tons of audio dramas. Plenty of novals. Some more obscure things like the theatre production Time fracture. But yh I suppose not impossible. Just a vast variety of medias to cover.

Just to clear up regeneration for those who don't know. The Doctor is a Time Lord. When a Time Lord is dying they can heal themselves by regenerating as long as the death wouldn't be instant, note that Time Lords are very durable and what is instant death for a human isn't for a Time Lord. This process heals them by replacing all of the cells in their body with new healthy ones. The downside of this is they effectively become a different person. The new incarnation can have a slightly different personality but it's never a dramatic change in character. No version of the Doctor has stopped being a good person who wants to help people.

There was a saying, Liam, in the Time War. "First thing you notice about the Doctor of War is he's unarmed. For many, it's also the last." I loved listening to this and while I'm a fan of both characters, there was no way Rick was winning this. First, we don't currently know if the Doctor can even be killed. Yeah Rick cheats death, but the Doctor simply denies it. There is a difference. Second, the Doctor's main power isn't Sonic Screwdrivers or The Tardis (Which is a living creature BTW. A Tardis is grown, not built) but it's his ability to turn his own opponent's weapons against him. The bigger the Gun Rick brings, the more it's going to hurt Rick later. Last, Rick does NOT do time travel. He says that multiple times in multiple episodes and in "The Vat of Acid" episode where he give Morty the ability to "Reset" himself, he even says he lied and it just killed a Morty in another Universe and teleported Morty there as he does NOT do time travel.

But the Doctor has survived for thousands and thousands of years and you're telling me no one tried drowning him? I don't think so. More likely the paramedics thought he was dead not knowing he's a Time Lord as his regeneration didn't kick in yet, tried to "save him", delayed it longer, and he regenerated in cold storage hours later. The fact that his body temperature is normally 15 degrees Celsius when he's healthy means any normal doctor would have pronounced him DOA. Think it couldn't happen? Watch the Doctor Who TV movie which is now 100% canon.

Liam did a bad job arguing/debating in favor of Rick, but just to bring a few that weren't focused on- Rick can transfer his conscience to copies of himself in infinite multiverse He killed countless other versions of himself and only stopped when he created the 'central finite curve'(were he isolated infinite universes where he exists as the smartest person from infinite universes were he doesn't). Even on a world that operates with different laws of physics- were technology is useless and magic is predominant, he quickly adapted into learning how to manipulate it as well. While being hooked into a mind reading machine that taps into parts of your mind and makes a virtual reality of it to relax your brain and access parts of it for info- he was able to manufacture said space (which shouldn't have been possible according to the people managing the machine, given that it's purpose reading the brain, not creating a space for him to freely manipulate), he not only manufactured butts, but also gave false information when revisiting his backstory, information in the form of a formula that translated into a virus. Oh, and I forgot the insanity of the "Heist episode", where Rick thinks so far ahead against a computer built to think ahead for the "perfect heist" that they go back and forward for 2 straight hour telling each other that they thought ahead of them thinking ahead. I'm not saying Rick definitely wins this, I'm saying he's a lot more impressive than what was presented here, and Liam didn't make a good case for him. ( Idk much of Dr. Who myself, but based on what I've seen and hear, I think Dr.Who wins with high difficulty. I would like a proper Death Battle episode to really make justice to both these characters and make it an interesting chess game, I think that's the big appeal of this battle and the core of these characters.)

I feel that despite the great connections, this fight has one massive flaw. Rick canonically will never have anything to combat any of the doctor's Time Hax. You basically have a 3rd dimensional being vs. a 4th, and that leads into the Doctor not just winning, but winning however he likes, with as much prep time as needed, and infinite counters to anything Rick has.

I wouldn’t necessarily call the time lords 4th dinensional. Maybe on their way to evolving into one, with 4th dimensional capabilities, but perception into all of time would preclude a perception of death that the Doctor’s species wouldn’t have. They fear death and opt to avoid it, but to a 4th dimensional being (Best example is Dr. Manhattan from Watchman) wouldn’t care because they see their future just like how we (3rd dimensional beings) see our past. I think they completely missed the point of this matchup. Rick Sanchez and Doctor Who can not be compared by their physical feats and abilities, because neither source material focuses on that. The Community post announcing this episode even called it a "Battle of the Minds", which it would be. Sure, Rick would win a physical Battle because he's more willing to use Mechs, Ray Guns, Death Cloaks etc., but a physical focused battle would do neither character justice. This battle would have to be a Chess game of cosmic proportions, one that the Doctor with his millenia of experience and feats would absolutely dominate against a human scientist who, while an absolute genius with his own cosmic experience, would be no match for the Doctor's intellect.

I'm enjoying this video but with all due respect this doesn't seem to be the best way to discuss these characters. The Doctor isn't going to be killed by a laser watch anymore then all of Ricks tech is going to be disabled by the sonic screwdriver. The real question is who is smarter and I don't know Rick and Morty enough to talk about Rick so if anyone does feel free to respond but as for the Doctor... If the Doctor is allowed to scheme they will be very hard to beat. The Doctor once set in motion a plan that killed the unkillable Word Lord Nobody Noone, a being made of language from a different universe. The Doctor has outsmarted eleder god's such as Fenric and the Beast (the actual devil). Probably the most versatile feat the Doctor has is being able to go back in time, get their past self to work on a problem and then have the solution their and then. This is how they were able to save their home plant from being destroyed in the Time War. Speaking of the Time War. The Doctor refused to take part it in it initially and was begged to by the Time Lords and other species as they know the Doctor will signle handedly turn the tide in their favour. Once the Doctor did get involved they were able too win it and be one of only two Time Lord survivors and a handful of Dalek survivors. More modern versions of the Doctor are able to fly their type 40 TARDIS, which is supposed to be piloted by 6 people, single handedly. The Doctor is pretty durable. Daleks pretty much instant kill everything they shoot however the 10th Doctor was able to survive long enough to regenerate. The 9th Doctor survived being electrocuted with enough current to instant kill humans and survived with no injuries to speak of. This is just the off the top of my head I may add to it later.

The advantage of having a show that's over 50 years old and as flexible with it's continuity as Dr Who has been, is that it has prett much covered all eventualities already over hundreds of different story lines. He is his own Deus ex machina and essentially a demi-god. They can't die and there are infinite versions of them in all time and space. There have been multiple times in which two or more versions interacted and even worked together, but that's not even the point because they don't need a whole citadel. They can end civilizations by themselves without fighting. This is not even a debate. Anything Rick can do the Doctor does it bigger and better. Liam used the example of Rick killing people who touched him without even moving to state how OP Rick was but that's the worst example to use against the Doctor. "The first thing you notice about the Doctor of War, is that he's unarmed. For many, it's also the last" meaning the Doctor doesn't even need to be touched to kill someone without a weapon. It sounds absurd because it is, the characters are designed that way. In Rick & Morty the conflict is driven by Rick making a mistake and spending the rest of the episode trying to fix it (often failing in that too). In Doctor Who the conflict is driven by the Doctor fixing a problem created by others, preferably with no casualties, which means they always have to be smarter and stronger than their foes (many of which were on the same level as Rick). In fact, if this were to become a Death Battle's episode that's exactly how it should play out: Rick ends up in the Doctor's universe (probably Morty's fault) and the TARDIS puts the Doctor in the same place, Rick picks a fight out of ego and the Doctor takes care of him like it was tuesday. The only conflict would be the Doctor trying to keep Morty and their companion alive (somehow, against the guy who stayed strong for 4.5 billion years, I doubt even DB's rules can make him bloodthirsty). We are talking about the Superman of smart guys, yeah Goku can train and become stronger and Rick may be inventive, but there are characters who are not designed to fail.

I'd argue that Doctor Who, even when just using the first three doctors, already was cracked. Later works retroactively made it more apparent. First Doctor: --First major threat was Animus, which was basically Ego the Living Planet before it was cooled. Later works say he is a Great Old One. --Fought the Celestial Toymaker, a higher dimensional being that can rewrite reality and survived his universe blowing up in his face. Later works say he is the Crystal Guardian of Fantasy and Dreams. Second Doctor: --Travelled to the Land of Fiction, a metafictional reality whereby all fictional works devised by man exist. It wasn't that extreme at the time, but it retroactively caused Doctor Who to get Cthulhu Mythos scaling because the characters within are exactly as they are in the stories. Third Doctor --Battled Kronos (Yes, that Kronos) the Chronovore, who was going to devour the universe and manifested in the Time Vortex (The Fifth Dimension). --Battled Omega alongside his second incarnation. Omega fell into a black hole and controlled an entire antinatter umiverse simply through force of will. By his own power, he made the 11D Eye of Harmony, and was capable of destroying the entire universe. This was within ten years of the show's soon to be 60 years of existence. Serial escalation only really kicks in in Tom Baker's ers as the Fourth Doctor, where Sutekh, the Morbius Doctors, the Guardians of Time, and the Key to Time are introduced.

Rick doesn't time travel, and even if he could, Gallifrey is protected by a transduction barrier meaning you can't travel down it's own history, the doctor if he wanted too could destroy all the Daleks in existence, it's why the Daleks are so afraid of him, despite the fact he doesn't kill (often) but he can and easily does. he's destroyed countless Daleks in the time war, each single one would stomp Rick on their own. Rick stands no chance.

If I could recommend one season it would be his, he is underrated and is the franchise survived due to him. I think people recommend skipping it because he had the shortest run, so the lows are more magnified. that's a little unfair, I reckon there is some difficulty, even if the Doctor wins. Rick is at least nearly as strong as the Daleks if not possibly stronger and the Doctor often struggles with them.

@@galarstar052 only because the doctor doesn't want to simply go nuclear on them, or because at times they're invading earth, and the doctor doesn't want to wipe out a huge amount of earth to do so. the War Doctor destroyed hundreds if not thousands of Daleks, as "There was a man with more blood on his hands than any other" and this was BEFORE he attempted to use the moment. Rick's augmentations (The only way Rick actually stands a chance) have been overcome before by standard alien tech that the timecards would consider trivial. the doctor would neutralise them with the sonic, and then beat him to death physically as he is superhuman in strength and durability. not to mention faster and is relativistic in terms of speed as shown by the android laser feat earlier.

if the Doctor won’t have any moral suppressors, nothing will prevent him from absorbing the power of the Tardis, or in another time vortex, which will make him literally a God even stronger than Doctor Manhattan. We never saw Doctor in his full potential, I mean Doctor, who is not holding back. And still we know how base Doctor is dangerous. While we already saw Rick using his full power, because he don’t have any morals and he is able to easily kill any life, nothing were holding him back in his battles. So my point is that it’s already a big question of who will win in fight between Rick and base Doctor. I think there’s no reason to compare Rick with moralless Doctor.

I told somebody else this, but there was that one episode with the demons. They couldn't be hurt, because being hurt felt good. No matter what you did, you couldn't hurt them. Rick built a device that hurt them anyways because that's literally his character.

They'll have to factor that in. It's the heart of the TARDIS, and obviously that'll be the most prominent piece of equipment the doc will receive I'm also guessing that's how the fight will end - the doctor appearing weak at the beginning of the fight but his weapons slowly get stronger and stronger until he has only got his creation-ending tools to rely on
