Rick is still in his genocide phase nihilist phase, the Doctor has had like 3 of those. It's why he said he knows people like Rick, the nihilists, because he's been Rick more then once and it never ended well. I loved how the Doctor was portrayed in the animation. He never directly attacks Rick through the entire fight, mostly just trying to escape or playing defense, and he is also reluctant to use his weapons like the De-Mat, which is perfect, since the Doctor is a pacifist who hates killing or using guns. It was perfect to have the Doctor fight in a more indirect way that makes use of the environment and his intelligence to make Rick defeat himself, which is exactly how the Doctor fights in the actual show, he wins by outsmarting, not by outgunning. The regeneration scene was also beautiful, the Doctor getting an epic speech is another thing that the actual show does often, and it was great how they referenced an iconic moment from the show with the "I don't wanna go" scene, but used it in another context, as in the show that line was a sad moment where the Doctor couldn't do anything to stop what would happen ("I don't wanna go, but I have no choice"), while here it is used to shut down Rick's nihilist mentality ("I don't wanna go, which is why I won't give up.") Honestly, their whole clash of ideologies was great, with Rick being a complete nihilist who thinks nothing in life means anything, and the Doctor being a altruist who sees beauty and hope in everything. This was just a really good episode in terms of how the fighters were characterized.

just a heads up for people, the next fight isn't so much a "Goku vs Superman 3" as it is a reboot. It's no secret that the info in the older episodes is VERY outdated and Death Battle's research methodology has evolved a lot in the 8 years since Goku vs Superman 2 in 2015. So this is them tackling this debate again using their modern research Ben Singer (the voice of Wiz) has also gone on record to say he despised Goku vs Superman 2, saying that was an episode he wanted to undo, for how it portrayed both characters. So don't expect "Superman is Infinite = The End" to be a win-condition this time (though if Goku Black vs Reverse Flash and Vegeta vs Thor is anything to go by, it doesn't matter. Supes is still winning). They even renamed the older 2 episodes and called Goku vs Superman 2 "The Irrelevant Sequel" just to drive home the fact that the entire Death Battle team disowns that fight. Also according to Death Battle the episode is meant to be a send off to both characters, meaning they won't appear again after it is all said and done. Which is kinda sad because there are some great matchups for both Goku and Superman that doesn't involve each other, like Goku vs Jin Mori (from The God of Highschool) or Superman vs Optimus Prime.

There had been police boxes with telephones of various designs since 1891. The TARDIS though is based upon what had become the most popular design which was used pretty much all over Britain - this was originally designed by Gilbert Mackenzie Trench in 1929 for the metropolitan police in London. This basic design stayed in use until the 1970s when police cars and police on the beat began to have their own radios for co-ordinating with the police station. Although the prop designers for Doctor Who decided to use that basic design for the TARDIS they weren't that fussed about getting everything 100% correct and over the decades as new TARDIS exterior props were created the sizes of windows etc changed between props.

The reason they're doing Goku vs Superman 3 is for a few reasons: - Ben wanted to do something special for Season 10, as that's a huge milestone for the show, and Goku vs Supes is arguably their most well-known episode, so having a rematch feels apt - The show has come a long way since their early seasons and the way they conduct their research is vastly different than how it was when the first two came out - Most, if not all, of the Death Battle team consider Goku vs Superman 2 as something of a failure, evident by them changing the titles of the two previous episodes to be "Goku vs Superman | The Classic One" and "Goku vs Superman 2 | The Irrelevant Sequel"

It was used by officers needing to call something in or by civilians wishing to contact the police. It also could function as a miniature police station or to contain prisoners for a while. They were most commonly used in the United Kingdom but with the advent of portable radios and cell phones, they fell out of use. Now Doctor Who owns the copyright on them as they are really the only ones still using them. The especially older stuff can be difficult to get into for a modern viewer, and the missing episodes don't make it any easier. Doctor Who isy favorite series of all time, and the Doctor himself is my favorite character in fiction. Death Battle really portrayed him fantastically and this episode was one of my favorites. And the funny thing is. The REALLY funny thing is...they really used the absolute bear minimum. The Demat gun is really cool, but it's basically a Time Lord equivalent of an infantry rifle. Looking at things like The Moment, The Eye of Harmony, The Glory, all things which are more like Time Lord WMDs, it's nothing. The Doctor has several methods of becoming an all-powerful reality warper who can rewrite causality post-hoc to ensure he made it to that point. Even without those things the laws of cause and effect twist to his needs subconsciously as all of reality wants him to succeed and knows how important he is. That doesn't even get into how the TARDIS, despite being an outdated and faulty model, is a legitimate contender for the most powerful artifact in fiction, considering two of them fought the Quantum Archangel and forced her to retreat (a being that had merged with the underlying fabric of reality and basically WAS reality made manifest and given a will). Rick is a crazy, multiversal tiered super-genius and yet he is so many degrees of magnitude beneath the Doctor that it's frankly one of the most one-sided matchups Death Battle has ever had if they had actually used everything.

This is the first time I've watched a video before it went public. They actually left a few things out of The Doctor's breakdown, and you did miss something in it. The thing you was missed was "if a Time Lord dies mid-Regeneration, they die permanently." The thing they left out is that The Doctor was not born a Time Lord and has been revealed to have infinite regenerations, though, presumably, still has that "dead if killed during one" thing. Also, the Fifteenth Doctor, whom they showed, is being played by Ncuti Gwata (check spelling). We have zero info on who the Sixteenth might be, as they won't be cast for another few years.

Yeah, they really undersold the Doctor in the analysis. They hardly discussed how the Doctor's greatest allies were himself and how he's teamed up with past/future versions of himself on multiple occasions. The reason why they're redoing Goku VS Superman is to simply give the episode a modern treatment. The show works vastly different in comparison to how it did in Seasons 1 & 2, and there is dissatisfaction by the team with how the 2nd one was handled and presented. While requests for them to do it again probably did slightly come into play, it's mostly just because they want to do it.

Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. To date, 875 episodes of Doctor Who have aired. This includes one television movie and multiple specials, and encompasses 304 stories over 39 seasons with 15 incarnations of the Doctor starting in 1963 and is the longest-running science-fiction TV series in history.

Doctor Who started airing in 1963 and Men In Black was first published in 1990. Torchwood is closer to being a British Men In Black and it's a spin-off of Doctor Who. The Torchwood Institute was established by Queen Victoria after an encounter with the Doctor and Rose Tyler. It is meant to fight against supernatural and alien threats, which she included the Doctor in that list, as she found his actions and mannerisms too strange. Ironically one of the Doctor's former companions became the head of Torchwood. Torchwood is also an anagram for Doctor Who.

A Police Box is basically just a box with a phone on the outside that you could call the police on. The police could also put a criminal inside it temporarily. It was basically a London only thing from the 1950s; it was already anachronistic by the 60s, and the Tardis Chameleon Circuit chose that form not because they were common, but because it landed in a junkyard.

From my knowledge, Police Boxes were used in the streets in the UK in the early 1940s that were close to what you say, the college campus emergency stations, but had a few more uses. For example, the Police Public Call Boxes have a telephone in the front compartment to call police, but also policemen could put criminals they've caught inside the police box and lock it, in which they could call the station and have backup come pick up the criminal to be brought into custody.
@BassDS1990 Жыл бұрын
I would highly recommend checking Doctor Who out if this Death Battle got you a bit intrigued. Best part is, you don't even need knowledge of the original run that started in the 60s and ended in the 80's; the 2005 revival is the best place to start, and there will be several callbacks to the original run that may pique your interest into checking, IF you decide to go down this rabbit hole at all. It is worth nothing though, a good amount of episodes involving the First and Second Doctor from 1966-1969 are presumed lost forever, as the BBC didn't see any value in preserving anything until into the early 70s, though there have slowly been animated recreations of those lost episodes using the audio that survived in certain cases.

Doctor Who is a great show. Both are great shows. But yeah, I would say The Doctor would win. And even in the final battle, he’d have to. One time he was “locked for all of time” by all of his enemies banding together to imprison him, the most dangerous being ever. And basically right after his imprisonment, all of his enemies just faded from existence with only facades remaining and their home planets just gone. So if The Doctor was hit by that gun, all time, or at least most of it, would just not exist.

Something that makes the Daleks completely terrifying stems from an unmentioned ability; Time Lords have In-Universe plot armor. Because they were part of the reason the Universe is less magic and more science, when a time lord is in danger the Universe may look at it and change certain things to give an edge. And The Daleks almost wiped them out. Not bad for machines initially designed as transport for a dying race.

A police box is something that used to be all over the UK. Think of it as a temporary holding cell. Let’s say a police officer arrested a random crook or a drunk on the street. They’d simply be able to shove them into one of these blue boxes for temporary containment and then use the phone built into the box (in a small hatch) to call for backup and a way to transfer them to prison. The phone also doubled as a way for police officers to check in with their home office.
@hadesdogs4366 Жыл бұрын
Kinda a police box is a well box in which a policeman might sit, have a cup of tea and use it as a camp site on their patrols throughout London, since London is typically wet or raining or cloudy it’s mostly just used as a form of shelter for any nearby police officers, along with a telephone built into it.

On paper, they are doing Goku vs Superman 3. But they’re using the strongest Goku from Heroes against the strongest Superman from Infinite Frontier, so it’s actually more accurate to say that this is a character that looks and sounds like Goku vs a character that looks and sounds like Superman. The team said that they’re doing this to correct their poor research in rounds 1 and 2, modernize those episodes, and make up for the fact that the Goku they used at the time was the equivalent of an alternate skin in a video game.

To kill a time lord fully is to kill them in the process of regeneration. They did explain that but I think you were talking over it 😅 Time Lords can be killed the same as a human but the regeneration is their last attempt of cheating death. Typically from stab/gunshot wounds, radiation poisoning, old age, internal damage, or anything that isn’t decapitation.

A police box is a public telephone kiosk or callbox for the use of members of the police, or for members of the public to contact the police. It was used in some countries, most widely in the United Kingdom throughout the 20th century from the early 1920s. Unlike an ordinary callbox, its telephone was located behind a hinged door so it could be used from the outside, and the interior of the box was, in effect, a miniature police station for use by police officers to read and fill in reports, take meal breaks and even temporarily hold detainees until the arrival of transport. The typical British police box contained a telephone linked directly to the local police station, allowing patrolling officers to keep in contact with the station, reporting anything unusual or requesting help if necessary. A light on top of the box would flash to alert an officer that they were requested to contact the station. Police boxes were usually blue, with the most notable exception being Glasgow, where they were red until the late 1960s. In addition to a telephone, they contained equipment such as an incident book, a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit. - Wikipedia
