Sent you a small donation over Rick. What a great cause. It was us - my step daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumour when she was 8 years old, we watched her go through various surgeries and god knows how many MRI scans - even a a trip to Oklahoma when she was 13 for Proton Beam Therapy. Unfortunately when we returned she was then diagnosed with Leukemia - unrelated to her brain tumour, and during her intense treatment for that - further brain and spinal tumours we're detected - it was bleak, and the doctors and Macmillan nurses were preparing us for the worse. Thankfully, she fought, and overcame, and last year got married - it was a special day. I know parents that weren't so fortunate, and I've been to the funerals. 😥 It's amazing who steps up and who steps away when you find yourselves going through a tough time - we had great support from people close to us and some not so close, but even then there were gaps that could have been filled - You've picked an absolutely cause to support here. 🙏

If huge golf fans don't enjoy watching the best player in the world win then golf is in trouble. Likewise, the same huge golf fans aren't impressed when a "no name" wins. This was the 1st time I turned off watching The Masters after the 12th hole. I enjoyed washing my car than seeing the end of The Masters.

It was a beautiful afternoon in the east coast of the US. Many of my die hard golf fan neighbors tuned out after the 11th to be outside and play with the kids and hangout with the neighbors.

I love watching him - he plays golf how it should be done. World class.

You cant blame Scottie. He didnt go lights out on the back 9. It was his closest challengers who just blew it. That happens.
@jarbird837 ай бұрын
Can’t fault Scottie for the lack of drama on the back 9. He kept pressing, which forced everyone else to feel like they have to press, which caused mistakes, and pulls away. That’s what a dominating player does. In fact, when he’s on a leaderboard, he’s having that inevitable effect, making everyone feel like that have to be perfect to win, and playing outside of themselves. That’s the most Tiger-like thing about him. But he’s much more of a Palmer/Nicklaus in personal makeup. Best of both worlds.

Re Tiger, he finished the second round, after 23 holes and a wind storm, at only +1 ; then he lost it on Sat & Sun. I think that's impressive and encouraging for next year after his body has had another year to heal.

My take on your Tiger rant. 1)The fact that he’s not drawing the massive crowds, like he used to, is a good thing. This means that golf can move forward without him. Let’s be honest, for a while it was looking like Tour golf would lose a TON of interest if he would no longer play. 2) He finished dead last, but he actually finished all 4 rounds. That is a positive,if you’re a Tiger fan, because he hasn’t even been doing that lately. 3) I also think he could win again. Obviously it hugely depends on his health.( not his game; it’s still good enough) This is why my second point is a positive. It shows improvement on his stamina. If( big if) he can continue to improve in that direction, he will win again.

No one complained about tiger smashing folks at pebble or his insane run of play for 15+ years , that wasn’t boring at all, and neither is this latest run by Scottie. What feels boring is the best players playing in 2 separate leagues and cheapening each comp. Scheffler is a player we will look back at and be amazed at what he accomplished on this run right now. Love the show, vids.

Re Tiger: They should have a “Masters Masters”, a two day 6 hole comp for the past champions who have retired from the main event. They could host it on Tuesday and Wednesday. I think people would love to see some of the older guys play.

How excited do you expect the crowd to be when Tiger comes off 18 after shooting 82 and 77 over the weekend ?
@robertsmith41897 ай бұрын
If Tiger remains fit enough to walk majors, when he turns 50 he may play Champions Tour with buggy (as is allowed, I understand) to get missing competitive reps in to tune game without stress on walking, leaving that for the majors.
@joetrigger45387 ай бұрын
Tiger played more competitive holes Friday than he did all season... I think he gets a few more tournaments in and adjusts to the new reality of his golf game and he will be competing for wins again. A lot of people call augusta the 2nd hardest walk in golf, so he just needs some time to get used to 72 holes during competition again

I think the excitement of the final 9 holes was the fact that so many of them had a 'disaster' hole that took them out of contention, such as ball in water, etc. The same thing could have happened to Scotty Scheffler so watching him hang in there and avoid the disasters was the exciting part. Personally, I enjoyed the Masters, from the first tee off to the last putt.

Scottie is awesome. Most favorite player I’ve ever watched.
@brianclark35037 ай бұрын
I thought it was a great tournament. The weather, particularly on the Friday with that wind, had such an effect on the field. Then a weekend where guys surged up to the top then dropped backed - including Scottie - made for some great action. Scottie's Sunday charge had the crowd roaring. DeChambeau's meltdown on Sunday was almost tragic. However, his antics in tearing up that sign post left me thinking the golf course took its revenge on Sunday. Great introduction to Aberg for everyone , especially States-side, who might be wondering who the next big star will be.

On viewing figures do dodgy boxes / chipped fire sticks count towards them? Viewing being down might not be an actual indication of lower viewership, but a rebellion against the ridiculous costs involved in watching sporting events

Personalities do improve the quality of watching. I watched this year until Bryson was some what out and then stopped. Nothing wrong with having an incredible golfer playing in one of the best tournaments, but personally I'd rather be watching a dramatic well known personality clash player battle or a known personality rather than someone who hits 18 hole in ones. It's why Rick has more viewers on his KZbin channel than some professionalsd, you enjoy the player first, their game is just extra.

Well done Scottie! 👏 He was untouchable. If that's boring, so be it. He got the job done. The others simply weren't good enough.

I have never agreed more with Rick’s opinions than I do with his opinions on today’s podcast. About Scottie, Tiger, this year‘s Masters… Simply couldn’t agree more on every single point.

This was the first time I’ve watched a golf tournament. I couldn’t believe how bad the coverage was, it’s like watching a sport in 2004. There were times when no information was on screen, no hole info, amount of shots e.g. Also I don’t understand the camera angles zooming on the ball while it’s in the sky, it’s very difficult to get any perspective on a shot. Maybe I’m just being naive.

The fact that the game was completely open for 3 days and 9 holes, and how we had a 5way tie at -6 day three is just proof that The Masters is the best golf tournament.

Rick, since you don’t enjoy the Masters anymore, can I take your place next year in the Mercedes Benz Experience??😂

The Masters app had all kinds of action on it. They even had CBS' feed. My point is that unless you can measure how many watched on the app, it doesn't matter how much CBS' viewership is down. As a Texan, and Scottie fan, I wish he would have won by ten shots. However, you can't blame him when so many other players were making doubles. Depends on your paradigm, I get it.

Difference between Scottie and Rory is from 150 yds in Scottie is 10 yards closer. Im not fussed with Liv find it a bit dull tbh but given the time BDC has put in YT fair play to him Can see SS doing a clean sweep at the majors hes playing golf as he was but can putt now

I think you are on spot with tiger making his injuries look worse when he is playing bad and looking like he has no injuries when he's playing perfect.
