It happens. I had a boyfriend for 3 yrs in my late teens, 1 yr after we broke up, his brother found me, he told me he'd been in love with me the whole time and asked me out, but I said no, it was too weird. Then in my 20's I was with someone for five yrs, we were engaged, but he wasn't a good person, I realised that the only reason I was still there was I loved his brother (who was married to my friend), I broke of the engagement, moved far away and never saw them again. Never had much luck in the love department, lol. Happily living with dogs now. ✌❤

Don't feel sorry for the protagonist. This is a song about obsession and wanting what someone else has, not about love, he doesn't even know her name. She is just "Jessie's girl, an object that he thinks is bringing pleasure to Jessie and an object that he wants for himself because he is jealous.
