What is amazing to me is at 1:36, he gives the biblical description of baptism. Romans 6:3-7 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized INTO Christ Jesus were baptized INTO His death? Therefore we were BURIED WITH HIM THROUGH BAPTISM into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together (my notes, who are you being united with here? It’s Christ, you may say it’s the church, which I will not argue with either since the church is the body of Christ Eph. 2:22-23 Either way it is baptism that unites, there is no union before the baptism, end of notes) For if we have been united in THE LIKENESS of His death, certainly we shall be in THE LIKENESS of His resurrection, knowing this, that the old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin Rick even says it, we go down in the likeness of His death and come up in the likeness of His resurrection, our sins washed away. And then says it is not baptism that makes us Christians. How are you a Christian before you are united with Christ through baptism, before your old man of sin is crucified with him? How are you saved before your sins are washed away? How is Rick married before he walks down the aisle? Stick with your biblical description Rick, starting at 1:36 and stop at about 1:42, you nailed it.

The Bible says "baptism does also now save us" (1Pt.3:21).

The Bible in many places states baptism saves. 1 Pet 3:21, Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16, Mk 16:16. Rick is missing the wholeness of Biblical truth. Baptism is not for others to watch. It's for a repentant believer to receive the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38) Nowhere in the Bible do we read that a sinner's prayer saves.

@@jsduthie the man crucified next to Jesus, certainly was not baptized and obtained salvation. In conclusion, baptism does not save, it is only a public demonstration of faith. I invite you to study the scripture and not just read it superficially taking it out of context.

That party in heaven is not because of the public declaration. That is not the main significance of baptism. O, the angels rejoice because in baptism someone receives God's forgiveness for all his or her sins and also the Holy Spirit as a helper to stay in or return to the light that is Jesus. That is the biblical teaching on the main reason for being baptised, I dare say boldly but in love.

Warren teaches the basic wrong doctrine that immersion is a work of a human instead of acknowledging the Bible teaching that immersion is God's timing for washing away sins and giving the Holy Spirit. It is how one accepts by faith God's free gift of salvation.

Leave it! It's a dead work! Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. Hebrews 6:1-2

If baptism is what you are referring to then I'm guessing you either you don't believe in the Bible or you don't understand it? Perhaps Im wrong but the Bible addresses the topic at length. The Gospel message. 1. We come in Belief in Christ- John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 2. We must confess Christ as Savior Romans 10:17 We 3. We must repent Acts 2:38 John 8:24 I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.” 4. We must be baptized. Mark 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
