I loved when you said "There's always something to forget in mage knight" - Pretty often i realize i accidentally cheated (for better or worse) turns later, often in ways that can't be reasonably fixed. Tonight i barely, on my last turn, using all my cards, won a solo conquest and realized during the last turn that i forgot to apply a city effect to some attacks from the first city defeated multiple turns earlier. or i forget to use 'Sparing power' correctly until I happen to notice it with only one card under it on my last turn of the night - which simply cannot be fixed either

Happens with this game, and many others too. It doesn’t matter as long as you enjoyed your game and think of it as a learning process. It is better to have/experience few games that you play many times (rather than lots you play only once or twice), getting better and better each time.

Hey Rick! As far as I remember the cross symbol in the upper left part of the card is the special symbol and you can use these in combat too. Only the hand (Heal) symbol you cannot use in combat.

Yes, you can, absolutely right. I was picking out the ones you could additionally use outside of Move/Combat. Hope that makes sense... R.

At 10:30, why is he a rampaging enemy? Is there a symbol for that?

it's a green enemy, with the bloodied sword icon on the back, placed on the bloodied sword icon on the map: these are all "Rampaging" enemies.

I have the Tezla expansion and have played Tezla but none of the scenarios - this is quite interesting.

It's not like Gloomhaven - the cards are thick stock and have that linen finish. Much more durable. You can get away with it.

ahh interesting i notice the 'Shocktroops' unit has that same pesky empty shield icon.

Indeed. I struggle a bit with Shocktroops. Are they useful or very situational ? I'm never that keen on picking them up...

Hey Ricky, At 2:10 you said, you must attack against 3 defence. I thought: If you do not block the attack, you have to take the 2nd Armor value, not the 1st + 2nd value. So, 2 attack should be enough

Hi, hopefully I can clarify: if you do not block then you take the higher number from elusive - i.e. the 2. Then you add the 'Defend' ability, so it becomes 2+1 = 3. If I had blocked, then I would take the lower elusive value plus the Defend (i.e. 1+1=2). So, the Defend always applies: there's no escaping it! Hope this helps ... Ricky.

Shouldn't you have re-rolled the 2 special colored dice (black and gold) since that was 50% of your dice pool? Or is the rule over 50%? It's been a long time since I've played this amazing game. And I don't blame you for not putting gold units out at night 1 since you normally never get a city that early in a regular 6-round game. :p

right, "At least half" must be basic is the rule, so over 50% would need a re-roll. Yup, being on auto-pilot for the unit offer caught me out! lol

Ricky did you use that Magic Map token twice? Or do you get the magic map effect for free for defeating the sprites?

from my experience playing mage knight, saving card for later is rarely a good option! You could have used concentration to move 2 extra space and reach the desert camp, which would have resulted in better outcome. Remember this: a decent outcome right now>>a better outcomel later in Mage knight!! Only time where this is false is with very specific card like earthquake which can be game changing to save for later. You can also think about it this way: in a RTS game you accumulate ressource to build stuff and produce units, but if you have plenty of ressource or no ressource at all, it doesn't change the map state. Hince using all of what you have is best way to play cuz it will translate into more unit and better control of the map!

some do, some don't. The ones that do have the draconum icon on them (e.g the red and blue city tiles).
