Hey, I'm glad I found this. Bought my C90 3.5yrs ago and regular maintenance was covered by the warranty for 3 yrs. Now I'm doing my own. It's in good shape and I want to keep it that way. The humor/lightheartedness is appreciated (as I saw someone else mention that).

Just a helpful reminder. always remove the fill nut first just in case somehow you can not get the nut to move you will not be stuck with no gear oil in the final drive. Also I made the mistake of forgetting to change the middle gear of gear oil.

Rick Mammana oh ok. Wish I had the manual. Thanks again.
@dadabg87475 жыл бұрын
20w50 is hard as hell on your bike when first starting and on top of that, these bikes fuel tanks are tiny and that thick oil uses more gas due to the difficulty of Spinning the motor. I use Rotella t4 15w-40 which is perfect for the type of riding I do. Rotella T4 is only $13 for a gallon and it's jaso certified (Japanese motorcycle) so I use this in all my bikes (03 intruder, gsxr 1000, ltz400). Yes it's diesel oil but also great in motorcycles and I ride my bikes hard. 03 intruder I'm constantly going 110mph (top out) and my gsxr1000 I always go 160+ everytime I ride her (not for long periods of time unless I'm on the beltway. I live in DC (no chase law)!

@RickMammana3 жыл бұрын
I'm not really sure. First I would change the motor oil and the filter and see how it is then. The oil lubricates the clutch on these bikes. If it's bad that might happen. Good Luck with it.

Before you open your plastic bottle of oil, stand it in a pot of very hot water first ( about 5 minutes or more). This will warm the oil up and thin it down a little and make it easier to pour.

Hey Rick, fun vid, thank you. Question for you. Yesterday I went on my first full ride on my 2018 C90T to Kansas, from OKC and back, when I got home, I was in my drive way waiting for the garage to open and then tried shifting into 1st gear to move forward, I was stuck in Neutral and couldn't get out of it, had to push the bike into the garage. Not sure what it was, after the bike sat and cooled down I went back out and tried shifting into 1st and it worked, played around with the shifter and all the gears work, have you experienced this before? I put 400 miles on my bike yesterday and had one hec of a ride, just don't understand why it did this... Thanks in advance for your kind wisdom
@RickMammana2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Once I had a problem where it wouldn't shift into first from neutral. Inside attached to the shifter there is a star gear with 5 pins on it. One for each gear. One of the pins was sticking out farther than the others. That was making it hard to shift. I had to take it apart and remove that star wheel gear. Put green loctite on the loose pin and hammer it flush again. I let the loctite dry overnight, put it back together and it never happened again. I know it's a big job but I did it. I found the instructions online somewhere. I hope that helps. Good luck with it!
