Honestly Rick. It is enjoyable to watch. Not the bad golf part. But the fact that a crappy high teens handicapper like me does the same thing that the guy I watch to get tips from. Just like me, you get frustrated, you get rush(y) with your swings, you make odd decisions trying to make up for your bad ones, and last you play golf like a human being. I have learned one thing and well pretty much one thing only this year (picking golf back up in my mid 30's with a slew of injuries and issues). Sometimes mid round, you just have to stop take a couple breaths, stretch a few muscles and take your swing back to the basics with a very slow back swing. Not to mention the 80 tips I'm still trying to get down that I've gathered from your videos. Watching this type of video has done nothing but up my respect factor for you. Can't wait to watch the rest of the series!

Rick, this is such a service to new golfers like me. I started playing a year ago, and my goal was to break 90 by now. Even though I'm consistently in the 90's it FEELS like I've regressed and gotten worse, so I know EXACTLY how you felt on EVERY shot of this round. So 3 takeaways for me: (1) you may have been boiling inside, but your outward expression was quite good for being so far off your best (2) if I scored +12 I'd be happy as a puppy with two peters, so it's all down to perspective and (3) you didn't bail on that round (as I tend to do as soon as I have a bad hole) which is (a) a waste of a round for myself and (b) ruins it for anyone playing with me. When I think of the rounds I've wasted doing the OPPOSITE of what you've done here, I want to give up the game...but seeing how you went about it here, from this day forth, I can turn it around, follow your example and never waste another round again. Thank you!

Rick, just wanted to let you know. I’ve been struggling with this a lot too and when you go back you open the face wide open almost and if your hands don’t flip in the most perfect way at the bottom, then there will be very inconsistent results. Especially in tournament or stressful conditions, flipping is not as a reliable way to swing than rotating and keeping the face square

My average round is an 86. Needless to say….I went out the next Tues and was back on track with a front 9 42 in our mens league. The 100 was hard to swallow as it was both my worst round in almost a year… (took up golf in 2020 again after a 10 year hiatus)….and it was with the club pro…whom I wanted to show how much I had improved. He was such a class act and is someone I can call a friend now…he just shrugged it off and said ‘yeah, just had one of those rounds…’….thanks for showing all of us that even at your level, there will be ‘days like this’.

After a couple of decent holes I proceeded to shank every single shot with an iron in my hand (including wedges) and walked off the course after 18 holes a broken man. After the round my step dad walked straight into the pro shop and booked me lessons, I have rarely shanked the ball since...I feel your pain Rick, great video!

I have days when I play badly but share your frustration when you play a good shot and get penalised. Golf is hard but that's why we keep coming back. Love your videos.

I love how you show that everyone has a bad day. I just played my first varsity tournament today and played the worst golf that I’ve ever played. I was really disappointed because I had played some of the best gold of my life in the rounds right before today. And then I completely lost it. Thank you for showing that it’s not just me and for being a positive person even when you don’t play how you want!

Rick, thank you for this, really. Thought it was just me that had rounds like this. I appreciate your honesty and courage in posting this; guess we're not all tour pros, right?!

To have over 2.1 million subscribers and still publish this episode goes to show the humility of Rick. Bravo, class. Lovely video

Good on you for actually posting this Rick... Important that your fans see strong golfers have poor rounds - that's golf.

Rick ,appreciate the honesty of this video. Anyone who has played golf for any length of time can relate. Danny Willett won the Masters and then lost form. Glad to see him regain his form. You're a good player. Good players also have coaches because they need an extra set of eyes. I have been a subscriber for awhile. From early on there were two aspects of your game that I noticed. You flare the club open on your backswing (similar to what Danny Willett used to do), which could be the culprit behind the shanks. That's a lot of rotation of the club face in order to square it up at impact. As you say, you are not a shanker. Butflaring the cub open on the backswing can lead to inconsistency both left and right. This is a minor point. A more important observation is related to your putting stance. You appear to be standing way too close to the ball when you putt. Please see this video which explains what I am talking about. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHnYZmZ9jrJnaNE Please accept these comments in the spirit they are intended. I'd love to see you break 70!!

Thanks Rick! We all have those days and we don’t have 2 people watching! 😜 all kidding aside, golf is an evil game that makes no sense. That’s why we love it. You could easily edit these videos and shoot par, but like a true golfer, you have integrity, and we admire you for that. Chop away young man, and the game, she will repay you.

Not sure if it works for you since golf is your career, but when I play bad on the course, I always tell myself "A bad day on the golf course is still better than a good day at work." Like your videos, Rick! I'm cheering for you!

Total honesty on a beautiful course, played there for years when I lived in the area, not a course to learn golf on!!! Glad to see the corrugated iron verandah roof has been replaced. Thanks Rick, great video.

Hi Guy and Rick! I had a round eerily similar to this earlier this year, with back to back shanks out of nowhere on a par 3. I managed to beat you by carding and 8. 😂 What a game! Thanks for all the content you guys bring, wildly entertaining and relatable. Simply class!

Love the video. Feel your pain , frustration etc. Makes video so much better.Dont give up. One day your break 75 will end in the 60's score. Golf is so cruel and humbling

love all the videos Rick and stoked to see break 75 back. hard to see you struggle at the start like this. but i also love seeing videos like this. for most i feel like it makes the video that much more relatable, like i can see myself hitting some of these shots. it is refreshing to see the poor shots as well as the good ones on videos here! keep it up, cant wait for more of this. from a member in the clubhouse
