Duuude! Mad respect for this! I can 100% without a doubt say that BJJ changed my life. It made me the man I am today.

Very insightful, Bjj is awesome , income from a judo background , and Bjj seems ton fulfilling what I’m lacking right now to complete my warrior toolset and achieve continuous personal growth. Rickson Grazie is definitely a legend ! OM!

@@josephstearns5983 Dude, coming from Rio de Janeiro, and grateful for having chance to train with his younger brothers, I can tell you for sure that Rickson underwent to an arc of philosophical and spiritual transformation in his life. To me he is like *Musashi* from Eiji Yoshikawa: a guy who really evolved from the *JITSU *to the *DO* Today his view of JJ is way distinct of most of the other members of the family.

I've only done bjj for two weeks but my goal is to be the next Rickson Gracie. My plan is to do yoga twice a week and bjj twice a week to get a similar balance, also do you know if he supplemented with resistance training, thanks 👍

Have a look through the work of cameron Shayne and Ido Portal (amongst others). Their movement culture stuff and generalisation work will give options to become super mobile which will help. When you see Rickson on the beach you will see he was doing it years ago! Cameron is more martial arts based so that may suit better.

You wont be the next anyone just be yourself and enjoy the journey. If you want to be elite grappler you will need to be a fulltime athlete,ni job and trai twice a day with a world class dojo dedicated to competive bjj.

I wish I could do ju jitsu, but I can’t. I have a herniated disc and it limits my capabilities so much

Like professor said.... You might not be able to do jiu Jitsu technically, but you can do life of your jiu Jitsu....
@thomasorchard3 жыл бұрын
Is there a way for you to work around it? I have c6 and c7 herniations that will heal, but then easily get reinjured again. I just tap early and often for chokes. I also do all my physical therapy stretches everyday and that helps. Try to adapt and train BJJ if you can.
@blakerainwater60363 жыл бұрын
Do you have access to a physical therapist? I have had all sorts of back problems and I do exercises from Dr. Stuart McGill (he's a really big deal, as far as spine physicians go), the Bob and Brad physical therapist youtube channel, and other abdomen and back strengthening exercises. I don't know how many times I thought I was down and out with my back, but have managed to come back. Just be smart and talk to a physical therapist.
