I’ve also always heard that Rolls wasn’t treated very nice in someways. Elio didn’t want the champion being anyone other than one of his sons no human beings perfect we all have our strengths and a shortcomings. Rolls also brought wrestling Sambo very open minded very passionate about creating the best martial art. Born leader and a good one. Everyone loved him. Elio’s wanted everyone just doing his way it was already perfected Rolls didn’t agree. He was the aris free spirit . Friends with everybody teaching his students everything hard-working Rolls Gracie. Not into being violent doing anything dirtyp like some people... But when he needed to he knew how to take care of business

The brilliant defense that Rick sans did on the double egg take down region reverse flip to the sky... I saved my daughters life she was on my shoulders I walk to across some black ice some bus stop circle ice and I slipped and she would’ve hit her head on the ground because she was on my shoulders probably five years old four years old. I kicked my leg out to the side as we were both in the air falling backwards and it Warbled the movement the slip and I came down on my feet like nothing ever happened and just kept walking to dinner. I love this move I used to copy it and play with it and think about it and somehow I created my own move out of it and save my daughter😂🧘🙏🐰🌲

Rearmount isn't even a thing in Judo ... In all his fights Rickson used Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, a mixture of Judo and Catch Wrestling that has a positional grappling totally different from these 2 arts that were mixed. BJJ is a grappling art that promotes position over submission and *strikes* and seeks to establish and dominate with certain positions in order to put the BJJ fighter into the best position to submit or *strike* an opponent. Rickson didn't used Judo in his fights, again rearmount isn't even a thing in Judo.

I was in a jiu Jitsu tournament many moons ago. I was talking to some of the heavyweight champions of the world from Brazil in a big auditorium Rickson Gracie walked in came towards us ... now before Rickson walked in The auditorium they were calling him chickson because they didn’t like that he selected his fights so he had a much better chance of not losing The fight . When Rickson walked near us they changed their stance and we’re happy to see him and said hey Rickson how are you doing buddy! Rickson like he had mental telepathy said hey I got to talk to these guys over here but nice seeing you and turned and walked away in another direction. left them there with her foot in her mouth the Jaguar eyes miss nothing

I think if you’re using judo techniques for fight/self defense(not randori) that technique becomes a jujutsu thow. Because in the ‘do’ you want to be better as before, but in ‘jutsu’ you want to win the fight/ destroy your enemy. What do you think about it?
@Chadi
@Chadi 4 жыл бұрын
Jutsu is 'art' and 'Do' is way of life, when Kano sensei introduced education and morality to Jujutsu it stopped being a practice and became a way of life when you apply the morality and education outside of the mat, so winning a fight for preserving your life on the street wouldn't change it would still be judo in my opinion.
@alafifi101

Remember that Judo is actually Jiu Jitus. That is why in the beginning Judo was called "Kano Jiu Jitsu". So basically Judo is a Jiu Jitsu style. It is just that the change of the name bring some philosophical aspects to the art. And remember that Judo is actually way much more effective than Japanese Jiu Jitsu especially back in the days when Judo crushed Jiu Jitsu. And BJJ is just Judo Newaza! lol
@vittocrazi
@vittocrazi 4 жыл бұрын
@@alafifi101 i have to disagree about judo being a jiujitsu style. Kano changed the game in more than just strategy (wich would mean same family, different style). When you change the training regime, the core strategies, the competition structure, the technique set AND formal aspects (along with ideology and vision), can you still call them the same? Aikido would also be "just a form of jiujitsu". Karate adopted the uniform and rank system from judo, but its not considered a derived from judo. BJJ would again take some aspects of original judo and replace others. Change of strategy, priorities, values, formality. But took the core training system and technique set. And this differences are the reason one is a big brand in USA and the other is not. One has a big reputation in UFC and the other is more widespread in (specially eastern) Europe.

Witcher I read Kano’s book last year and found out, to my surprise, that it was actually never called Kano Jiujitsu at first. Other sources seem to say That that name was given to it later when it began to spread across the world and people had no clue what judo was but knew jiujitsu

Rolls a great champions most of his students quit when he passed away at least temporarily. Look at the champions rickson has produce? Then look at the champions Renzo Carlson Gracie Rolls Gracie... Everyone looked up to Rick like he was John Wayne but he taught everybody nothing just gave the impression it’s a long journey He used to say oh they just knew all the chokes When people would beat our team etc. It was horrible what he did a real sin I’m sorry it’s the flat out truth Lotta dreams a lot of lives he is ruined That red belt movie knew something even way back then My selfishness fame even though it’s supposed to be all about teaching and your students and in the way that he’s better he gave you the feeling that he was going to get you there but that’s not what he was doing. He didn’t go for it like Renzo and fight win or lose it was all a game. My good friend that passed away was even better friends with him and when they were coming back from surfing one day Rickson was teary-eyed he said I can’t help it my dad taught me to hide everything... He’s like a high school football player and he has the spiritual side but at the end of the day he’s selfish and childish. And they all still admire him well Manny because of who he is and what is done but without being a great teacher without being a great lover without having a big heart what have you really done nothing. In this case I really have to disagree with you. After Helio, Rickson is the worst fraud of them all. Just watch his instructional videos from around 1990, and you will see it is just pathetic sub-par Judo. And if that is not enough, just watch him in his only appearance in UFC. The guy didn't even know the basics of boxing. He couldn't even jab or throw a straight right, much less a hook or an uppercut. He didn't know what he was doing, and now he's some kind of icon?

@@kalikaputra This is not as simple as it seems. High-level judo competition is a very organized and structured sport and a very demanding endeavor for the athletes. They are usually fully dedicated to Judo training and competition. In fact, as far as I know, at the highest levels the athletes are not allowed to compete in other disciplines. On the other hand, many high-level grapplers, specially BJJ guys, include Judo as part of their training, and this has been true for a long time. Notable people from the Gracie schools (Humaita and Carlson, family or not) have trained their fair share of Judo, be it with Georges Mehdi, the Flamengo team or in other forms. John Danaher includes some Judo in his program. Roger Gracie trains it. The list goes on and on. In addition to that, some judoka have transitioned to BJJ and/or MMA with great success. Some well known names include Fedor Emelianenko, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Ronda Rousey, Kayla Harrison, Travis Stevens. Again, the list goes on and on. So, asking "if (...) Kano judo [is] so good these days then why you don't see more judo guys when in BJJ comps? Or MMA?" feels analog to asking "if the Thai fighters are so good at striking, why don't we see more of them in MMA?". There are many reasons for both, but effectiveness doesn't seem to be one of them.
