I cannot say enough how much I love watching Rick Steves. I have watched him since I was little. I’ve had a dream to travel to Europe since I was young. I do hope that dream does come true in the future
@mohbika3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rick for this amazing video on my beloved home country. My 6 yrs old daughter and younger son haven`t set foot in their motherland yet since they were born. Now, I am more eager to show them the history of my country and the richness that many of us Egyptians never cared to know, let alone, appreciate and protect. I really miss my country, I wish I can go back there safely one day. If it ever happens, the first places I will take my kids to are, with the same order, Dahab - St. Catherine - Siwa - Luxor - Aswan - Alex - Al Mo3ez St in Cairo.
@jeffh14052 жыл бұрын
Hi. May I ask, why do you think you may not be able to go back safely? I've been thinking about visiting Egypt with my girlfriend so just curious. Thanks!
@mohbika2 жыл бұрын
@@jeffh1405 Hi, welcome to Egypt in advance ☺️ Long story short, what I meant is safe for me to return as a freedom-loving anti-coup citizen. It shldnt at all be a problem for you guys. However, when it comes to visiting Egypt, you need to differentiate between touristic cities (Luxor, Aswan, Nuba, Hurgada, Sharm, Dahab, Siwa etc.), and capital cities (Cairo and Alexandria). In the touristic cities, people are very well respectful, appreciative, and professional towards tourists. They value tourism so much and they understand that it's their source of income, that's where it's relatively safe and you will enjoy the most in your visit even as back packers. On the other hand, I wouldn't advise much to hang around Cairo and Alexandria outside the comfort of your tour group and a guide. If you are not gonna be withing a group then you definitely need a trustworthy guide or a friend to take you around, otherwise, you both are not gonna enjoy the experience, not at all, though, Cairo is a must visit. Let me know if you need any specifics.Although I have been away for long, but still might be able to help ☺️

Great video Rick Cairo is one of my favourite cities that I have visited - seeing Islamic Cairo with its many mosques, Khan El Khalili Bazaar, Citadel and Al Azhar Park and University. Coptic Cairo is a must see and do. Going on top of Cairo Tower night and day is worth viewing as well as doing a Night River Cruise. But the highlight is Giza Pyramids as well as seeing Saqqara Step Pyramid, Bent and Red Pyramids in Dahshur, and seeing Memphis

I’m so glad I traveled Egypt before the violence. Definitely important if you are a woman to never travel alone and take advantage of guides who can take you off the beaten path. Eat and sleep at five star hotels do not try anything less or you will end up with cold water showers, bed bugs and more! Take time to see the museums they take much longer than you think they will. I suggest visiting some local shops for things like music which I was very glad I did. Don’t pass up Alexandria or upper Egypt. They are gems! Take the sleeper train it’s an experience! Lastly take a faruka at sunset and drink as much mint tea as you can handle, it’s absolutely essential 🐪

I was there in February this year. I was very lucky to have a nice hotel in front of the pyramids and a roof top bar. Beside of this I was very disappointed. Cairo and Giza are very hectic, dirty and crowded. I would like to give every tourist this advise: There is nothing for free in Egypt. Every gift that you take costs money - believe me! Also don't trust those people who want to show you a better way to go somewhere. Don't go with them. They are just wasting your precious time.
