Karl has an interesting idea for how to educate today's young people: show them old episodes of Bullseye. Ricky helps him to explore other nuggets of wisdom on their visit to T4.

He's right, we live in a world that puts pressure on young people to be successful, bright and happy. What if that doesn't work out for them? They are going to get depressed and stuck in a rut, naturally. Karl gives good advice.
@lpsp442
@lpsp442 7 жыл бұрын
More than anything, it puts a pressure on them to be some ideal that they're not. Modern education is full of preaching acceptance and peace, but where it counts it's full-on snobbery and mould-fitting. People cannot live simple lives under that system.

"Pressure" is a word used by privileged ignoramuses still expecting to get whatever they want and especially uttered vociferously when the world around them doesn't accept their limpness and the burden they thus pose on society. Education is about honing the mental tools used for problem solving. One can carry around and swagger about having a huge toolbox at one's disposal but if all the tools are but for show, unattended and the owner is without proper knowledge of their purpose and application the lot is useless, as is the person claiming otherwise.

I met a very successful maths teacher once. His favourite lesson was teaching the 15 year old dimwits. His lesson consisted of a dartboard, sporting life and a mock up betting shop. His theory was that this was what they would be doing when they left school but at least they could count how to win a game of darts and settle a complicated bet like yankee .

I think Karl sums up our attitude towards achievement in Britain. We're so negative, from my experience most kids are brought up to simply get a job that pays well enough rather than to follow their dreams and be the absolute best they can be. When someone becomes successful people want to try to knock them down a peg rather than celebrate them. I'm not saying America is brilliant, far from it, but one thing they do seem to do is instill a belief in their youth that anything is possible.

I had a spelling mistake so i corrected it, if you look back at it you will see it is still there. If that makes sense to you, then good luck. I think you know deep down that you are splitting hairs. You mentioned "intelligence", not the original statement. The original statement spoke about making a judgement, which is what you did with the "knob head" statement. If you think "knobhead" is not a derogatory statement, say it to someone who is respected like elder, judge or local bully
