Reading the comments from some folks that were making Ricky their new hero yesterday, but then discover this video and suddenly he's lost esteem in their book. Aka, "I hate it when celebrities speak their mind, unless they are spinning my narrative." Lol. He spoke the truth at the Golden Globes, and he is definitely speaking the truth here. He takes no prisoners on either side, and I am here for it. :-)

Gervais, as you obviously know, is a celebrity that has made a living using his platform talking about philosophy, religion, and politics only to tell other people/celebrities to shut up.

I loooove Ricky as a comedian but in this case I think he should get educated on foreign policy before stating an opinion and then act like what he had said about it is the universal truth. As for Trump, he didn't want to be president to begin with and he had always have money to fall back from if he didn't get elected. He didn't stomp "the 1%", he stomped specific *individuals* on the basis of their *actions.* It's an increasingly Democrat approach to target people on the basis of their wealth and race (if they're white). But the rest of America says you should target people on the basis of what they *do* (e.g., if they're hypocrites, if they pretend to know about things they don't know about, etc.) And that's what Gervais did; that's why the conservatives are giving him heaps of praise right now.

Vic 2.0 I agree it's one thing if celebrities use these awards as a platform for something political as people aren't tuning in for that, however just because someone is a celebrity doesn't mean they can't voice a political opinion on a social media platform just like anyone else. If you disagree with that person you can either ignore or challenge them. Let's not forget that Reagan was an actor prior to being the president and even Trump himself was a successful business man who gained celebrity status which would all help his chances of increasing his persuasion. I can get if some people resonate with his views but I don't get how he can't do no wrong either.

Vic 2.0 Sorry, I got sidetracked a bit. My point was that it's one thing to scold celebrities for highjacking a platform for expressing their political views and another to totally censor them for having a political view at all. I'm not saying that's how you think but the point of both Reagan and Trump regardless of qualifications is that celebrity was a platform for them to pursue a political career so there is some hypocrisy in that, once again not at you, just a point to consider. I do agree that this extreme push to the left is annoying but personally this complete shift to the right is the flip side of the same coin. I'd like to see some balance rather than people blindly aligning themselves in a group.
