@horticulturalharry92463 ай бұрын
Freedom of speech is severely limited in the UK now. If you voice an opinion that contrasts with the "progressive" (get the irony) left, you can lose your job, even go to prison. They have something called a "hate crime" whereby authorities can assign a motive to your actions that you yourself disagree with. and prosecute you under this banner. Unfortunately the same people that were anti capitalist have jumped into bed with big business to get their woke agenda heard. This all exploded around 2008 with the financial crisis. Big business simply uses these people to whitewash all their wrongdoings by publicising how woke they are. Big corp like the BBC, Unilever, ben and Jerry's, even the post office, all have skeletons in their cupboards and are on crusades to show the public how caring they are. Over and out 🙂

What people don't seem to understand is - when they're outraged by these jokes - their outrage is the REASON they are funny. Overly censorious people, in the name of political correctness - have moderated "good taste" to the point where we feel imprisoned by our own speech. Ricky says some absurd stuff here - but it's funny, not because it's necessarily always "true" or "real" - but because he's doing something that feels liberating and naughty. People who complain about this humour are the very people who inspired it's existence. If none of these things were deemed "naughty" - we wouldn't find such liberation in hearing them.

I couldn’t have worded this better myself. Exactly this!
@bramvanduijn80863 ай бұрын
Eh, I like his jokes when there is a deeper layer. Like 'the kid drowning because the potential recuer argues about the exact word is' a poignant comment on the importance of speech preferences versus actual human lives. The queer joke could have gone somewhere deep, but he didn't. Or if he did, I don't get it. Yes, words change meaning, and yes you can make some amazing jokes about that, but he just said cock a lot. And his illegal immigrants joke is just playing on the 'all immigrants are guys' thing, which, A: isn't true, though it is more men than women and children, because of B: it is a dangerous journey. The reason you don't see a lot of women and children is because the women and children die underway. Countries they can get to with less danger tend to have more women and children refugees.The N-word joke "we invented that!" is hilarious. It is simultaneously an anti-argument to reach the stated goal, and being an anti-argument, it is also a good argument, so that is fucking excellent.

So, to check them out, for the past week he has asked me about the volume and pitch of various, random noises, "Is that noise soft or loud?" What has been happening is I will occasionally ask him an ordinary question and before answering, he will ask me about my voice's volume... "did you ask that question in your normal tone of voice or was it softer than usual?" Finally, I got so annoyed I told him that if I were to fall to the ground and blurt out that I was having a heart attack, he would look down at me and ask, "Now, did you say that in your regular voice tone or was it a bit louder than usual?"

Fifty years ago when in sixth grade a classmate was acting up a bit and the teacher said, " Eugene what's up ? You're acting mighty Queer today." Eugene shouted back at her, " I'm Not a Queer!" The teacher then stuttered, saying, " I wasn't calling you, uh, uh, one of Those." Hilarious.

His quick wit and a sense of irony are par excellence and he's genuinely entertaining to listen to. Wouldn't like to hang out with him, though, cause he really seems to not care.

He's actually one of the most respectful and nice celebrities to walk into. He really takes the time. Easy to find tons of examples of him being the nicest chap to people who recognize him.

@@etiennevachon2813 Nice to hear. Didn't mean he was an asshole irl or a diva to fans. Just that his sense of humor would be overbearing to experience in private. Especially when, as it eventually often happens among friends, you would become the butt of some of his jokes. He's too savage for my taste :)
