If you really listen to what Hatton is saying, he doesn't Blame Mayweather for the loss. He sees what he would have done differently. Every successful person looks at thier losses and asks "what adjustments should I have made". If you knew in your soul that you should have been working mitts with a southpaw and you didn't force the issue. You are going to regret not following your soul. As a veteran athlete you know if your body doesn't feel correct. He should have pressed the issue and took a couple days off. He didn't and now he regrets it. Mayweather was pushing him hard, hatton chose to stick with it. Not all great fighters and great trainers make the right team when paired. Paq was going to out punch him anyway. Hatton would have had to catch him with a good 1 shot to win.

The fact that Hatton was constantly getting tagged by that right hook was no surprise. I think what is surprising is that after being hit with that shot against fighters like Juan Lazcano and Luis Collazo, that Hatton didn't realize how susceptible he was to that shot. I remember Lazcano dazed him at least twice with that shot. If I remember correctly, even earlier in his career against Eamon Magee he was catching a similar shot. Hatton never learned to pick his hands up and avoid the lead hook, I think.

Let’s not forget that Floyd senior immediately tried to didstance himself and blame hatton buy saying that he didn’t follow the plan and that he should retire. Disgraceful behavior from a trainer. Floyd senior does good work with the mayweather style but in my opinion Ricky hatton and Oscar delahoya were both better before Floyd senior. Ricky hatton style relied on him non stop smothering his opponents and Floyd sr toned down his aggression with out adding any other elements to him. I remember watching that fight and there was a moment in the second round wen Ricky hattons instincts kicked in and he started to fight like he did before Floyd. I remember thinking that it was possible for him to work his way back into the fight if he kept that up but then that KO punch landed and ended all that. I think that he probably would have been stopped buy pacquiao at any point in his career but with out Floyd sr training he might have been competitive.

Will Irwin exactly, I have said the same thing, mayweather sr can do good work with some fighters but a fighter like hatton, he has no business training. Hatton was a rugged and agressive fighter, mayweather retuned his aggression, hatton needed to stay on top of his opponents. Hatton actually did better in the fight after he got hurt and was fighting on instinct, either way, I still think that pacquiao would have stopped him at any stage in hatton career.

I agree with Hatton he would’ve put up a much better fight with a different trainer. He was over critical of Hatton during the fight to save face when he should’ve supported him with positivity and a better plan. Even Mayweather JR agrees it was Snr’s fault.

What do you think Hatton shoukd have done? Box him? Thats in round1 Rough him up? Thats round2 If that KO did not came, he may ended up like Margarito Hes just not on the level of PAC, cutoff the excuses.
@dv0rak6294 жыл бұрын
Thats what I said, anybother coach he will still loose, you can win against Pacquiao by boxing him, and Hatton is not that kind of fighter, he will just end up tomato faced if the fight have extended to the later rounds. Im a PAC fan but im nit delusional, because it really happened. speak some sense on you comment boi.

it is funny he blames someone else for his loss. just like a loser to do so. when you inflate your head because you think you know it only makes for a bigger target for the other guy. when people actually listen to their corner they have the best chance to win a fight, every fighter should already know this and should not be in a fight like this when you don't. thinking you know more about fighting then your corner guy that has a lifetime more experience then you is a total imature fighter and needs a lot of work and if that cannot be fixed that fighter should be dropped as they are unteachable and only headed for dissaster.

when you watch the fight, Floyd Sr tells Hatton that he's not following what SR told him to do. " You should have been listening to me from day one!"

Floyd Sr. comes from the old school of boxing. You spared 5 to 6 days a week along with your gym work. If you didn't take your defense seriously you wouldn't make it with that work regimen. Those were brutal days but as a fan we also enjoyed brutal fights
