I have had a similar argument about hours. I was working 60 hrs with 7 days per diem in Louisiana,in August to boot. Guys would volunteer for 7 days and think they were smart. I was paid $100 to sit and watch tv in air-conditioning on Sunday, and they were in 105° 100% humidity making a few dollars more on the paycheck after taxes. They never could understand when I tried to tell them.

Give and take.. Self preservation Vs. a few greedy dollars more. Actually, one ends up paying much more during their later years for what they're slaving at today. A work-worn and broken body at 60 is never a good thing when there's still 20-40 years left to suffer with it, and not being able to even go out fishing. Do Not Be A Slave! Protect Your Own Self FIRST. AND, Early to bed, early to rise, gives the ol'lady reason to go out with other guys. . .(`burning through your hard earned savings.) True story. Take care of #1 First, or others will do it For You, Their Way. Self-enslavement. Bondage of ones self. Just say "NO!", then go find a comfy chair and plan for your next fishing adventure.

My job has ALWAYS included not only making sure that someone knew how to do their job, but also I had to make sure that they knew how to do it CORRECTLY AND EFFICIENTLY as well as being the one who had to FIX any and all mistakes. When I started my career 25 years ago I gained the reputation of being the reliable one that was faster and the hardest worker even compared to the guys that were there for years. A decade ago I left that job to start my own business and some of the guys I worked with followed me to be my employees. Unfortunately I have known quite a few people like the new guy who think they're special and deserve to be treated like the experienced ones. My own cousin is like that and complained because even though he just started a month earlier he wasn't making as much as my friend the line manager who's been there for almost 20 years. My friend always complained about him because he was the slowest laziest guy and he was always screwing up. Eventually my cousin went back to McDonald's because factory work was just too hard
