Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. its been planned since 2014 for a 4th one. im just worried its not going to get made. Legit one of my most favorite universes that is some how not based of previously written material. It used to be a straight to video cult classic with pitch black and now the franchise has a much bigger audience hitting theatres. It reminds me of 40k where its just such a massive universe to explore, since the world of riddick is much newer they could take it in so many ways. I have a dream to make a massive cool scifi universe inspired by 40k, riddick and Fire Fly but its hard to make a whole universe as just one person. These movies are made by tons of people. Im glad these universes at least exist.

The lore of Riddick universe is pretty interesting, particularly the Necromongers. Stories of them are told like a folklore; a comet signals the destruction. To think that they're known for destroyers of worlds, no alliance has formed to seek out and destroy the Necromongers (or is there one?). Regardless, this is a cool sci-fi concept. This series has got my full support.

The only race who was able to slow down the spread of Necros were Furyans but they were destroyed by them too. It looks like Riddick is the last surviving Furyan but I don´t think it´s truth ´cause there are probably others who escaped. If they were all dead, who would burry the dead ones? We can see the cemetery on Furya as the vision in Chronicles. The next Riddick movie is called Riddick: Furya, so we´re gonna see who are other survivors and what are their special powers.

It has the same story kind of with Clones and Mandalorians from Star Wars (I know nothing about and dont watch SW) with Necromongers including bounty hunters. Pretty cool? ;)

Just watched this two days ago, and it holds up. Contrasted against films like Avengers End Game, I love movies like this that feel small. Small cast, limited sets. Lets you focus on characters on screen now and what’s happening now instead of what exotic action BS set piece will show up next.

I mean this was just a remake of Pitch Black, but at this point its been so long since ive seen Pitch Black i mostly forgot the plot. This movie wasnt the best, but it was very enjoyable and fun to watch, Chronicles and Riddick are different films. Chronicles will still always be my favorite but this one has a special place in my heart.

It´s not remake, it´s basically Pitch Black 2 and it was made this way because too many people complained Chronicles is too different from Pitch Black. Which is true but I enjoy all Riddick movies and he´s my favourite character.

Its a continuity of the last Movie. There is a Necromonger at 1:13 and he still has the Dagger he got from killing a Necromonger in the last movie too 1:15. Also in the Credits u can see Karl Urban as being part of the Cast and he was a Necromonger Noble from the last Movie

you can watch the alternate ending from this movie in which he literally returns to the necromonger ship and waits to enter the underverse (which he thinks furya is)

@@royalecrafts6252 Vaako is in the Underverse, and he´s the only person who knows the location of Furya. That´s why Riddick wants to enter the Underverse. But we already know where Furya is - somewhere between Helion Prime and that frozen planet in UV system because when Riddick put himself in cryosleep in Toomb´s ship, the screen showed "closest habitable planet: Furya" for a moment, then switched to "Helion Prime". He was closer to his homeworld than he knows.

I didn´t mind her in this movie until she ruined The Mandalorian and is obviously proud of it. By ruining Mando she retrospectively ruined Riddick too. The bounty is part of his character. He will and forever have to live with the decisions he made in the past despite whatever else is going on at the time(necro-dudes). Oh and about the bounty, how come it can work for han-solo and not for Riddick? The most important part of these movies, is the universe they create, and the narrative they use to do it.

Because that's probably what it is, essentially. Pitch Black was an above-average example of the survival formula; the late 90s/early2000s answer to Aliens and Predator. Of the two Riddick films, it's the one that performed best at the box office, and has some enduring appeal. Hollywood thinking = "if it ain't broke, make it again."

I am guessing that Riddick lures a bunch of bounty hunters to that planet. Either by upping his bounty or because his bounty was upped. the Necromonger is either there working for Riddick or is there to kill him and take what is his.
