@xXxKawasakiChampxXx8 жыл бұрын
Not sure if any of these ways is how he did it but one way I know to more reliably hold more boost would be to lower the compression ratio. Lower compression ratio can be achieved a number of ways such as dishing out the pistons more, larger pre-combustion chamber volumes and/or orifices and thicker gaskets. Cam and timing can have an affect on what kind of boost diesel heads can handle. Id love to know what his build consists of. I hope arp studs were involved. O-ring or fire ringing the heads also helps hold that boost in. Another thing people dont consider also for safe reliable boost is getting drive line and intake pressure under boost as close to 1:1 ratio as possible. Im wondering what things hes done to the fuel if anything else other than turning her up.

KaidoFujimi sounded like a vgt turbo cause he was idling and it spooled up

SMOKE&SPOOL _ Yeah i was blanking on the name for them. A bit odd for a truck of that age. i know its a popular thing on the new powerstrokes.

KaidoFujimi yea a bit odd , always get some strange looks at the fuel station when it comes in whistling lol

You're going to tear your truck up you never run your truck that low on diesel never that truck has dual tanks you need to switch tanks
@rylenwatchorn26383 жыл бұрын
The front fuel tank gauge was crap for those trucks. You could have a full tank of fuel and it wouldn’t tell ya (either broken or sticky).

RIP the rings and exhaust valves. Can't just slap a turbo on an N/A IDI and expect it to be rainbow, flowers, and a good time.

My 90 is still running fine, 340k on the clock with a banks turbo setup and a 5 speed. Running 12psi on stock injectors, just have the pump turned up 2 flats and an egt gauge. Daily driven about 120 miles round trip monday-friday for about 5 years now. Zero issues

Oh but your so wrong
@pcwizzy460 Жыл бұрын
@@silvertarp9546 I am not incorrect though. Your opinion is different than facts. the factory IDI turbo is alot beefier than the N/A one.
@silvertarp9546 Жыл бұрын
@@pcwizzy460it’s stronger yes. But you can throw a turbo on and crank up the fuel and be fine. The factory ip doesn’t supply near enough to put rods in danger.

I'm also interested in what is needed to do this swap to an IDI truck. Also did you notice a hike in power?
