Yeah, my theory about Grand Soulfire Bombardment’s usefulness against armor despite what the tooltip says is likely due to the increased number of projectiles. That lets the non-ap damage increase by alot, and armor can only block so much.

Pretty sweet game, I'm wondering how much impact a well countered army actually is. Like could this Brettonian army actually win without some major luck on it's side? I mean all those demis are still in such good health. Sure heals caused some of that, but that's still a lot of hp and demis are one of those units that can still cyclecharge forever after the mass changes because of their mass.

@@charalamboscharalambous165 I'm not degrading his victory, if he made mistakes he could easily have lost. Having a perfectly countered build will still loose if one makes mistakes. However it does indeed make sense to hold the cav back and only engage it once the enemy cav is engaged with their infantry and not be pro active with it.

If we know anything from Campaign play, it's that even the worst match-up can be won if your opponent makes enough mistakes. Putting aside exploiting AI and just playing like it's a player, you can usually defeat an army that is significantly superior to yours through good play. That's much harder in MP because a human opponent will make fewer mistakes, but any game that costs equal starting gold can be won if you make good enough choices and your enemy makes major mistakes - so your job if you are likely to lose anyway is to pressure them into making mistakes.

Bombardment spells are most effective against cav blobs and immobile monsters because the models don't get thrown around after getting hit with a single projectile, that's why soulfire did so well against the questing knights.

I appreciate anyone trying to learn bretonnia, but god its painful... first off, 1 mage, bringing 2 mages for any faction is the largest waste of gold i can think of, 1 trebuchet great well done, 2 archers yes but USE THEM lol, yoemen archers are even better, 2nd best skirmish cav in game behind wood elfs, and run that cav directly to the artillery and archers... anyway well done, better luck next time

imo lance demis are kinda useless they're slightly better reiksguard that die way faster imo everytime I use demis I find their only utility is with dealing with large units and staying away from infantry maybe i'm just shit

It's interesting since most units don't have enough armor to warrant picking demi's over knights of the blazing sun or Reiksguard. However, the bug fix that accidentally nerfed cav actually hits demis less than normal cav since they have higher armor, more health per entity (so they lose less combat potential if they get counter charged), and really high MD for shock cav at 36. Normally yeah, what you pay for is often unnecessary but with the current meta they're a safer pick than the mid tier empire cav.

If by "slightly better", you mean having actual AP, superior combat stats, better speed, better armor, more health per model(better synergy with healing and buffs) and causes fear, then yes, they are only slightly better. If they die faster for you, it is because you are putting them in bad situations. If what you want is something to sweep fleeing units or to cheaply block enemy flankers, regular Knights or even Pistoliers can do that. You pick Blazing Sun for the Fire damage and high charge bonus(low AP though), potentially as a counter to magic damage. You pick Reiksguard for a more efficient screening unit that moonlights as an offensive unit(tougher and more reliable than regular knights). And you pick Demigryphs with Lances if you want a unit that can kill armored targets, focus down heroes and lords and generally kill anything that stands against them. Especially if they are backed up by an Arch Lector(50 seconds buffs) and a Jade Wizard to keep them going. If you want to deal with large units, you pick the Halberd variant.

ngl, kinda tired of hearing about the cav situation multiple times a video every game, as they continue to do well game after game after game. Not saying they weren't nerfed, but people have been posting videos of Cavalry performing from every angle, so clearly they're not in an actually bad state if they continue to remain this high performing. At this point we can say pretty definitively that apart form charging into great weapon units, Cav is performing as intended, with a few odd exceptions around.

considering CA themselves have literally said cav is not performing as intended, I'm going to go ahead and vehemently disagree with you. no one said cav is useless or unable to do well, but that doesn't mean they're in the spot they're supposed to be. They've admitted multiple cav interactions are unintentionally broken atm. If my intent is to show a replay where cav does well, of course I will be able to procure a replay like that, no matter how broken said unit is, and vice versa

there hasn't even BEEN cav in the vast majority of my replays over the last month and a half lol. im probably not talking about busted cav interactions when there ISNT cav, right? Dwarfs vs norsca, no cav. SFO replays, definitely not talking about it because its not busted in SFO. feel free to link me all of these games where I'm constantly talking about it. I'm sure I've brought it up more than once, but is it possible your threshold for "tiresome" is a bit low here?

@@milkandcookiesTW so at this point, I'm assuming you're not really reading so much as skimming. To reiterate, its not just your videos, its been the content community as a whole. Secondly, I did specifically say videos with cav in them. Thirdly, I can assure you that you have at least 3 videos without cav in them wherein the cav bugs have been brought up, although that was near the beginning of this patch and was more of a quick PSA. Finally, after a month and a half of the content community as a whole mentioning cav bugs here there and everywhere cav does show up or especially doesnt show up in a matchup where they normally would, I'm frankly surprised I'm not seeing more people who are tired of hearing about it. You said it yourself, CA is not only aware of the bugs, they've made official statements. At this point, we can all agree its widespread information, and if it does need to be brought up in detail, everybody and their brother has put out a convenient video to put a link to, so it doesn't need to be once more beaten like the dead horse the pistoliers rode in after Archaeon got the fireball on.
