Very nice bike and as you say ticks a large number of boxes for many people. I have always been tempted by Honda motorcycles but I do feel they are a bit behind the curve in terms of their electronic packages. They are also heavy bikes generally speaking. For me the KTM 790 adventure standard and r versions just tick more and better boxes. Imo the best and saving feature of the AT is the creamy smooth dct. gearbox. However I would still rather have the KTM quickshifter & autoblipper.

Yes, I tend to agree. It's sometimes a trade off between confidence in reliability versus cutting edge features. And whether DCT or TFT floats our individual boats. Road wise I think the Tiger XRt and Ducati MTS 900 offer a great deal of pleasure for similar money. They're more dynamic bikes and would probably get my check. But for an effortless RTW trip, the smart money on getting you there and back would be on the Honda. Charlie & Ewan could do worse than an AT-DCT or Super10 for their upcoming America's ride. I've sat on the KTM Adventure R now and for off-road, I doubt it has any peers in this specific segment. If it remains dependable, the KTM 790's both deserve to sell in numbers.

I like the bigger tank, I even like the DCT, but no cruise control, odd omission, its throttle by wire. I wont buy another bike wo cruise control, never had it before but now cant live wo it. I wish ktm wouldve copied the color scheme too, cmon everybody haha.

Great comments! It's surprising how quickly we get used to TFT, hill-hold, rider modes, electronic suspension and of course cruise control! I recently bought an M2 Competition and which doesn't have the active cruise control, birds-eye view cameras, cooled seats and a few other toys that I already serverly miss! :-D

@@simoncurtin2541 Well let me enlighten you Si, Honda produced the Africa Twin way back in 1988 in red, white and blue (HRC colors) with gold wheels. So it is actually BMW who has copied Honda. Having owned an HP GSA with gold wheels, at the time of this video (Multistrada V4S now), it was one of the first things I acknowledged, that BMW had copied Honda, but not done it as well.
