Just a quick ride on the GS750 now that its all running again.
Still not 100% and she dropped a cylinder for a few minutes but came back on 4 after I wiggled the HT leads.
Also, the clutch cable may have been poorly seated as it got very loose toward the end and started dragging when stationary.
Despite these issues and a lack of separate audio gear the video came out ok.
No music this time :)
I hope this inspires you to get off your arse and finish that bloody project.

I bought an identical GS750 second hand in 1979. I loved how it looked. Got a bank loan over 2 years at £50 per month. Unfortunately, I didn't really trust the bike, it moved around at speeds over 60mph like a bucking broncho and I couldn't afford to have it properly checked out. I'd had it 3 months when an uninsured and unemployed driver in a Hillman Imp pulled out on me, destroying the front end of the bike and injuring me and my pillion. He was prosecuted by the police but it was the only time I had TPFT insurance so although the bike needed extensive repairs and I was off work without pay for weeks, I had no insurance payout, racked up big debts and had 21 loan payments to go. I sold it for £100 as a fixer upper and was back on the bus until I paid off the loan and debts. Almost 20 bikes since then, currently riding a Ducati Monster 937.

I bought one new in '77, same color as this one. added "850" Wiesco piston kit, Yosh pipe (never ran the baffle), geared it down, drag bars and a stepped seat like the drag racers of the day were using. Later in the year a body man friend painted it black for me and did ghosted gold pearl stripes to mimic the design of those on Pee Wee Gleason's race bike. Sold it to a friend and bought a 78 GS1000 when they were released, did the same mods sans the overbore. Those two bikes would run side by side. My friend was smaller build/lighter, but still. What a great bike that was; handled so much better than it's Kawasaki counterpart. Thanks for this, memory lane...

Everybody wanted a GS750 back in the day. I couldn't find one for sale so got a GS550e which was a good bike. Loved the vid, it brought back loads memorys from early 80s. Your GS sounded great anorl.

my brother also had one, the only mods he did on his was, electronic ignition, 4-1 Kerker header, 29mm smoothbore Mikuni cards, and velocity stacks. The fastest 1/4 mile on his was 12.3sec. He also let me ride it at the dragstrip when I was 17. I miss that shit!!

Lovely bike! She'll last another 50 years if looked after like like that. I used to drool over a GS750 in the day but had to be content with the reliable but uninspiring CB200!

Often overlooked for the bigger 1000, or the CB900F. It’s funny how Suzuki persevered with the 750 when other manufacturers abandoned them in the 90s. This one sounds as good as the day it rolled of the production line.

I had one when I lived in South Africa. It was my only transport for 15 years. My step father loaned me the cash to buy it. Now I live in the UK and my step father passed so I got this one as a reminder. Same colour, same sound.

Excellent engines when maintained properly, I had an 850 which could shift for the lump it was, stopping it was a different matter.

I watched the whole video waiting to hear at least one full gear. I didn't hear it. In addition to the boredom, this bike is scrabbled....

I just picked up a '78 GS750 here in Cincy. Carbs are getting cleaned now (was flooding the air box with gas). Do you have any issues with the floats/needles on the carbs?

I did the valve stem seals, painted the engine, sourced the proper airbox and did a full service including carb clean. Runs like a Swiss watch now :)

so i have an old suzuki that i got from my dad, he says its a 1976, but i searched it up and the oldest model is a 77, but the old owner started to make it a hard-tail, and lost the title in the process, and the VIN is the old way (not 17 numbers) would you know anything about decoding the vin?

@Davesaid9253 true pal. I had the pods on and it dropped a cylinder for a few minutes. I have sourced an original airbox now so it's running a lot better.
