@@TRCAdventures could do with a bit more power. Friends have converted theirs to 350cc with a big bore kit, and although much more fun, the fuel consumption is terrible and some issues with the bikes. In the end I left mine untouched. It has been very reliable and I didnt want to have it in a garage more than I ride it. I would love a bit more power though. I have a soft spot for drz400 but not an easy bike to get in Thailand and parts are expensive. All imports are overpriced. I love the idea of the Tenere T7, but again so pricey here. I hired the MT07 and loved the engine but not the riding style. .so the T7 looks like it would be a really fun bike to try. I liked your video. Beautiful scenery for a ride through.

I bought the same 2019 KLX 250 Camo and I'm a big fan as well. Better on the street than I expected. Easy shifting and the 6 speed was a big selling point with me. I haven't done anything to the air box etc. Wouldn't really know where to start. Yours sounds great. My big Versys 1000 has to spend more time in the garage now. Great review, thanks.

TonydlP650 the only reason I’d recommend more is for people who commute on the freeway often (could be more comfortable with more passing speed) or people who want to build a super moto. The 250 is PERFECT for in town mobbing lol but even a road trip wouldn’t be bad on the backroads/light freeway riding.

Great bike and is very capable in the dirt. I pushed mine to the limit as in jumping roads and such. If you install a pipe and header kit it really turns into a new beast. I bought a KLX 230 today, as the 250 was just slightly over my budget (I know, it's not THAT much more, but it was enough), anyways it's my first street / road bike, and in only the 20 miles I've put on it so far, I'm loving it. I'm not sure scale wise how much slower the 230 is over the 250, but that's fine (Yes I know it's 20cc less, but what does that actually equate to top speed wise and power wise). Just need to get some hours under my belt then think about an upgrade in a year or so I suppose, heh.

62 here too. I just sold my '11 Vstrom DL650 ABS 3 weeks ago. Only owned it for 3 years. Im now considering a 250cc-400cc, Enduro/Adv style bike by next spring. Every few years, I buy/sell my used Enduro/Adv bikes. Mostly been 650cc bikes and just log a few hundred miles on em. I just want something to whip around my area streets/local state park on Sunday mornings. So many distracted cagers now, its scary. Last few have been used bikes. I bought a couple new bikes in '80s, good used deals hard to pass up. But Im leaning to a new, KTM 390 Adv or used 390 Duke. I have always owned reliable Kawawsaki or Suzuki. Really like the Yam MT-07 but will prolly go with a 250cc-400cc for lighter weight. First look at this klx250, interesting. Good luck. Ride Safe.

Issabella, if your considering riding off road only the 140 is a great bike, they make that on a big wheel version that would fir you well. If you are considering riding on road, consider the Yamaha XT250. It has a low seat height but still power to ride the roads. And you will be able to touch the ground flat footed at a stop. The Kawasaki klx250 is en excellent bike but the higher seat hight will have you on tip toes at a stop, if you don't mind that then the klx 250s is a good Choice.

I’m thinking about financing a used one of these from a local dealership and they’re asking $4,750. It has a few added mods but nothing too huge and it seems like a great deal for sure, but would you or anybody else have any suggestions with haggling in this kind of situation? Any advice would be great so I can snag this thing and get to riding! Also, are you riding in Northern California somewhere?
@TRCAdventures11 ай бұрын
It all depends on how many miles it has and the condition of the bike, now that the 300 is out and for sale on the used market the 250s have come down in price $4,700 seems a bit on the high side, but if it has super low miles, like a few hundred...and the bike looks like a new one, then the price is good. Still we are only talking about a couple hundred bucks and if you're financing a bike under 10k you will be paying that over a few times in interest alone. I'm one for only paying cash for bikes in this range, interest rates and insurance on a financed bike are super high, just not worth it. My advice would be save a bit and pay cash, or pick a bike that is at the price point of the cash you have to spend, it will be more fun in the end
@neuchigen11 ай бұрын
@@TRCAdventures that’s great to know! I think there’s about 7k miles on it but it’s in great shape. Thank you so much for the input!

Can you power wheel it or are you using the clutch to do a wheelie?
@TRCAdventures3 жыл бұрын
after modifications 1 gear power wheelie no problem, 2 gear it will do it but you need to be off then on the throttle, a little pull helps! third gear you need to clutch it up. Totally stock it will pull it up in 1st but you need to be going the right speed. with all that said...I normally clutch up wheelies because it keeps your speed down and you can keep the wheel up longer.

Is it comparable with Suzuki DRZ400-S in terms of of-road ?
@calcrappie85074 жыл бұрын
Probably a little less capable overall. 11.2 ground clearance on the Kawasaki vs 12.8 Suzuki. For tight stuff the Kawasaki is more nimble and weighs 15-20 pounds less.
@TRCAdventures4 жыл бұрын
I find the KLX to be better off road, the suspension feels better/ more responsive and more adjustable, power delivery is better on the KLX, (seems to rev quicker than the DRZ) the one point on the KLX that needs attention is the bar position, it needs to be moved forward for real off road use, for a taller rider the stock setting makes it more difficult to stand, (we fixed that on this bike) if you sit down off road you would probably never notice. the KLX will take a bigger hit (big bumps) without bottoming out the suspension. I see many riders moving to the KLX from the DRZ, ride both and decide what makes you feel more comfortable!

How well does the ejk fuel controller improve power with a stock exhaust. I'm thinking if getting one for mine but not wanting to spend more money atm for a exhaust.
@TRCAdventures3 жыл бұрын
The fuel controller does more than the exhaust, on there own, I found I could dial in the fuel for better, smother power, I also removed the snorkel to get a bit more air in the mix, the result made a big improvement in power without all the noise out the tail pipe, intake is a bit louder with a deeper sound overall. personally I would not change the exhaust, unless you want a loud bike. The EJK fuel controller is worth the $$, you can make small adjustments until you get it the way you like it, and you can change it later if you do more modifications!!

@TRCAdventures3 жыл бұрын
I thought I did one.....I guess not, that is a Great bike, looking for another one now! I did a complete build on one last year, this is what I found its a TALL bike! if you 6" its great! for me perfect! for casual riding no real changes needed for a complete hard core adventure bike: the front forks work well with 15wt oil in them the rear shock can be made to work, (we got adjustable "lowering" links and "raised" the bike 1.5 to 2" this reduced the leverage of the suspension link and gave us about 20% increase in compression and damping on the rear shock) Larger tank we found a Real skid plate that matched the plastic pice! Raised the bars and installed Pro tapper bars added a fuel controller HJK, THIS made a big difference we took the snorkel out of the Air bod, this also made a big difference we added two brothers exhaust, this made it loud but no real improvement, I would not do this part again again fantastic bike WAY under rated and capable of riding around the world !

How does the EJK mod affect consumption?
@TRCAdventures3 жыл бұрын
It will depend on how you program it, you have the option to run the bike way too rich and your fuel mileage would suffer dramatically. If done right, your fuel economy could improve. The way i program the unit is to remove the lean condition just off idle and smooth out the power curve with the snorkel removed. The bike is getting more fuel running up through the gears, but at normal running RPM and not under load the bike is running more efficiently. Overall i really did not notice much change in fuel economy but the bike ran better with a bit more power. You just need to resist the urge to over fuel the bike.
