I have had the “pleasure “ of visiting Slab City, but more important is the story behind Salvation Mountain….I can’t give you the whole story now, but this was this guy whole body of work for many years..he has passed but his devotion to Jesus and the work that he did was amazing….would have loved to hear about it during the filming…having said that, I do really enjoy your videos and watching everyone enjoying themselves…and yes, riding with that many guys is like herding cats…someone always breaks away…keep them coming! Ride safe…

Great riding on my 2002 RKC that I've owned for 20 years now. A Pan America would be a great compliment to my RKC here with 1000's of miles of dirt roads to explore.

@@MattLaidlaw I unfortunately had a bad one, I had the typical electrical issues, suspension issues, the preload kept dumping on me and the rear end would just drop on the bike while riding, it would over heat as well. What finally pushed me over the edge was the knocking from the engine. I sold it back to the dealership. I am now in the market for a CVO road glide black hole. I really liked the concept of the Pan America and had mine fitted out with all the accessories, it just unfortunately it was plagued with issues.

How would you compare touring on the Pan America to touring on a street/road glide? I’m torn between the two. Thanks!
@RoadtoNowhere733 жыл бұрын
I’ve not ridden a Pan American but I’ll give you my two cents. In March 2020 I bought a KTM 1290 Super Adventure S (touring version), a competitor to the PA. Amazing motor, tons of power, excellent suspension. Had some uneven front brake rotor issues and occasional electrical gremlins. I put about 8k miles this year mostly touring like in this video above and stopped doing fire roads/truck trails/off-roading. I even upgraded windshield, seat, grips, etc. but on 1k mile plus rides I was tired/sore. I sold the KTM and bought a ‘21 road Glide. For the touring type of riding I do now more than anything else, there is no question which is more comfortable. That frame mounted front fairing is a godsend. Low cg + heavier bike is so much easier in heavy crosswinds. On KTM where I could barely put feet on ground (I’m only 5’11, and KTM didn’t lower at a stop the way PA does) I’d be getting beat up in high winds. Not fun. SG or RG all the way in my opinion.
@MattLaidlaw3 жыл бұрын
I agree with a lot that road to Nowhere said. If you are just touring on road I would definitely get the streetglide or road glide. They are still more comfortable. You can beat a fairing that size for wind deflection. I also like the ergonomics better. Only get the PA if you are gonna explore places off road or bad roads in combination with the on road stuff.

Another great vlog. Do you guys always ride in full face helmets? or is that just for the camera? I don't know why Harley can't have their gas caps opening forward towards the bars. It would make it so much easier to fill up without the lid being in the way.
@Bluis54453 жыл бұрын
If you do long miles a full face is pretty much mandatory. Plus there’s no benefit for half helmets to be honest.
@MattLaidlaw3 жыл бұрын
Yea, we all do full face. They just have a lot of advantages. Less wind noise, safer, better wind protection, can mount more stuff to them like cameras and communications stuff.
