During ‪@ElectrifyTV‬ Expo in Long Beach, Damian from Top5ebikes finally was able to ride the Roadster Gravel Edition! Normally the gravel edition has a price of $1245 but during Memorial Day 2023 the price will be $1145.

So I have one of these and it does not fail to put a smile on my face every time I ride it. I also live around hills and some are very steep. The hills can be done with effort but it does eat up a lot of juice. Overall I'm happy with this bike.

I'm SOOO torn between this and the Velotric T1 or TENWAYS CGO600 Pro, both of which offer more range and can be kind of turned into gravel bikes with a tire change I believe, thoughts?

these are all great ebikes (* we have not ridden the Tenways) but the Velotric & Tenways have more tech features while the Roadster is more of a standalone ebike (closer to say the Van Moof). We personally love both the Roadster & the Velotric but for different reasons. The Thunder & Roadster also have very different looks so that may be what sways you.

are you sure the tenways cgo 600 has enough clearance to add gravel tires like the ones on the ride1up v2 gravel? in europe these tenways cgo 600 pro are 1800 euros which i think is way too much plus the motor is less powerful. also ride1up made in america whereas tenways made in china.

also how much (or little) range do you get if you only use the throttle?

We haven't tested it but it's gotta be in the 15-20 miles range.

You were surprised of the addition of a throttle? You're at a traffic light, dead stop, on a fixie, no gears. A throttle is a must for that spec of a bike. As a customer buying an ebike, most would expect a throttle, i know i would. If they would of gave it a 6,7 spd etc, I would of bought one. No gears, no dice. I have hills and i want tp pedal and save on battery.

Throttles are common on e-bikes for sure but this bike is so light that it doesn’t really need a throttle and the intention from the beginning was to design more of a “fixie style.” Less e more bike. There are some similar models from other companies that also don’t have throttles so I wonder if those companies will change their bikes in response.

@@Top5ebikes Rad Mission and the Aventon Soltera both had throttles and were offered in the fixie style. I would of bought a Propella 9S Pro if it had a throttle. Some day one of those companies will build a bike that has everything i want on a bike, i hope..
