Inferior quality, lack of service and refusal of warranty service at RAD POWER BIKES Hello everyone, on my own behalf and in the interest of everyone who is thinking about buying a bicycle from the RAD POWER BIKES brand. Here are my unpleasant experiences with the manufacturer: The electronics on my Pedelec bike Rhino 6 Plus stopped working after 13 months, despite careful treatment. The company then successively sent me various spare parts, some of which I even had to pay for. After I spent a lot of time on over two dozen emails and unsuccessful repair attempts, the company refuses to honor its warranty obligations. As a last attempt at a solution, I took the bike to an ebike workshop. The workshop asked Rad Power Bikes for information to determine the cause. However, Rad Power Bikes did not respond to the repair shop's emails. Without e-assistance the bike is useless. €2000 wasted. Clear warning, stay away from it.

Wishing I could still find this in stock at any REI... even hard to find a used one for sale. I'd love to hear more about the handling while towing the trailer (and how that compares to riding with no trailer).

I would disagree with most of your comments. It’s a very comfortable bike with a nice smooth delivery and a right had throttle grip. My wife and Grandkids can ride it. I love the semi integrated battery…it keeps the frame sleek and not so bulky and the battery is much easier to take out.

I have the other first version of this bike and I love it. Besides the positives you mentioned, I really like that it has a torque pedal assist system rather than a cadence system. When I was testing lots of different ebikes I felt like the bikes with a cadence system felt like they jumped ahead. Specifically, when turning the bikes with cadence would speed right up again in the middle of the turn when I wanted to still be navigating the turn slowly. Bikes with the torque system would stay slow until I pressed the pedals harder for speed. The first torque system seems much safer to me and this bike was at least $500 cheaper than other bikes with torque and that doesn't include the perks of getting it at REI where I'm a member.

I live in Scotland. I bought this bike to ride in the summer. It reached me in August. It arrived faulty. It was giving a system error. It took 1 month to reach me by email, to find a solution and for the spare part to come to me. Friends, the product was never used and its box was broken. Despite this, they did not accept a return. Then I was able to use the bike for the last month and a half. This time it started to have a pedal support problem and it took 2 months to solve this problem. Since they do not have a service here, you pay extra money from your own pocket to have the product part installed. Then it gave the same error again. We emailed exactly 3 times because of the same error, while I was talking about sending spare parts etc. I generally used the bike without pedal support. It was a good sport for me, thanks Rad Power 😀 Now there is a pedal support problem again, sometimes the pedal supports, sometimes it does not. Since the company has withdrawn from Europe, it is now more difficult to email, we have been emailing for 2 and a half months and we still cannot find a solution. Even though summer is over here, I still cannot use my bike. I want to sell it but no one buys it. It is completely garbage. Give your money to a homeless person instead of buying this bike.

Just purchased on June 20th, 2024, I worked for 2 days and have stopped working, Customer Support has not been helpful, and has been unresponsive. They thought it was the controller, ordered it, on July 6th, and as of July 9th it has not been sent out yet. And I have to take the bike apart and fix it. I called a service center (the closest was 2 hours away) and they felt it was the motor. They have not been helpful, as it is so big, I can't transport it and would have to hire a van and drive 2 hours each way to get it to a service center. So, if anything goes wrong with the bike as in my situation, and you're not close to a service center nor have a vehicle large enough to transport this bike, as of the date of this writing, you are screwed. And good luck speaking with someone with authority to make decisions.

I love this bike, it does 40-50 miles depending on gear and assist level. Mine goes uphill really good on a steep overpass at level 3 assist at 17 mph, I didn’t want to attempt that steepness but had to find out if it can and it did. The kick stand is great in my experience and I really like it. My only con on this bike is the Alan key wheel release vs the quick release like on my MTB and road bike, but that’s only because I prefer to transport it inside my suv with the front wheel off for space so it can stand vs laying down. Great video. I was worried since they were discontinuing it I asked REI and their customer service said if we ever need a battery replacement or extra battery we can purchase it from bafang website.

If you think you can find better ebikes with high level components for less than $1899, you had better let us hear about it. ps. criticizing a step through frame for not being as rigid as a diamond frame is a lame slap in the helmet.

The Globe Haul looks like a great ebike. I'd say if you're willing to spend $3500 or so on the Globe Haul LT, you should also look into a Tern GSD(this to me if my fav. cargo ebike) even though it's about $4500 +. Thanks for the comment! Maybe one day I can get my hands on the Globe Haul!

I'm 5-11 which for my height it's comfortable....the frame itself isn't big but you can adjust the handle bars to have a better for your height. I think it should be fine for your height but If you're close to an REI, I'd go in & test ride it. Btw I've seen people taller than you (maybe 6-5) riding this ebike and it didn't seem comfortable.

I just decided on which one. Purchasing an e-bike hadn't really crossed my mind until the past few months and having some good experience with rentals. I went to the big local bike shop to inquire about the Aventon A2 and left with a receipt for a Troxus Lynx Plus. The 20" tires were a much better fit for me in regard to size. I'm a middle-aged woman who is not tiny (5'4", 138 lbs, short legs) but I do have physical limitations that make me want/need to feel closer to the ground. Lectric (which I've ridden a few times as rentals) are just too big for me - I don't like them. I've read so many positive reviews about the Aventon Adventure 2 and the two frame sizes seems like a no-brainer. But the shop owner, who is also an authorized Aventon service provider, shared with me that Aventon has been less responsive to repairs for some time now. They'll have bikes waiting weeks for replacement parts and Aventon doesn't respond to their queries. Assistance and part orders are "falling through cracks" as one of the techs said. The owner said that considering the bike that I was interested in was similar in build and style to Troxus that I should consider that brand. He has a good rapport with Troxus and considering the fact that I don't know a thing about maintaining e-bikes - having a repair shop that knows what it is doing and can actually get what it needs from the company whose bikes they sell/maintain is kind of important. Bonus - I've never ridden an e-bike with a torque sensor. The newer versions of Troxus bikes are offering the ability to switch between torque and cadence. I'm rather excited to try that out :) ETA: There were no sales going on in the store. I don't think independent dealers operate that way. Both bikes - the Aventon Adventure 2 and the Troxus Lynx Plus were offered at the exact same price ($1999).

I bought an Aventon Aventure 2 a little more than a month ago. It performs well on flat land or in the foothills. I took my bike up to the 3,000 foot elevation level in the mountains and climbed a paved mountain road for 8 miles. I burned the motor up on Eco mode. I had to coast or peddle my bike non-assist 8 miles back to my car. This bike is not made for steep hill climbing. My friend’s $600.00 Walmart brand Hyper 250 watt mid-drive motor e-bike out performed mine on the hill climb. It was a pretty embarrassing moment as my bike cost a lot more. The Aventure 2 cannot perform the way it is being advertised. I only had 67 miles on my bike when I burned the motor up. I had to take it back to the bike store to get a new hub motor. Good thing it’s under warranty.
