Speculation…but do Showa provide approved oil level and nitrogen pressures? I imagine all factory teams would have to run within those approved ranges whereas a non-factory team like this may stray outside the approved ranges looking for more performance and end up with pressure spikes the shock can’t handle?…

When you vac bleed a shock the amount of gas pressure usually decides the oil volume, if it had too much it would likely run into hydro locking issues way before this i would think. Id bet a good amount of money it was just a material failure and an extremely rare one.

@@lukekelly5115 not to go into a back and forth…but technically I would call hydrolocking a case where there is 100% oil volume and no gas, which of course would never be the case. However I imagine pressure would start spiking significantly with additional oil above the manufacturers spec..not saying that did happen but seems like a possibility.
