Excellent first day, rain adds that extra twist to break the predictability of a TT race. Yves was superb in these conditions and thoroughly deserved the win. LR is galaxies ahead of GCN and other channels, the best TDF commentaries and insights are here on this channel.

As a Belgian who follows cycling. This was a surprise, but not as much as people would think. Last year he became Belgian champion TT, beating Evenepoel. This year he became second, after Evenepoel, before Campenaerts (1 hour World Record holder). He does leadouts for QS for years and he is in good shape. He can beat everybody in a technical 10k TT. He deserves it so much. On national Television he has his own little show where they follow him in his footsteps chasing his dream: to win Paris-Roubaix. Go Lampieeee! 🇧🇪😎

It was great (in a macabre way) the TT today, waiting to see who would slide out next! but I just couldn't stop chuckling just how so many reminded me of Dark Helmet! especially Pidock, it was sort of hilarious! god those helmets are almost as bad looking as that scene of Rog's suffering on the Le Planche des belles filles in 2020. I have no greater insight.

The rankings on stage 1 will determine the order of team cars. Does the car order change after that (maybe based on GC ranking)? Edit: Found an article about it: "Each team is issued a position in the convoy, represented by a sticker on the back of the vehicle. In stage races, the order is dictated by each team’s best-placed rider on the general classification. In one-day World Tour events the order is decided by the UCI ranking of each team’s top rider"

To reach Paris or even the next day , in these conditions , it is imperative to stay on your bycicle . Sliding over the asphalt , burn, pain, sticky sheets at night, not fun to start your Tour that way. I once saw Aad v/d Hoek the last day before Paris many years ago , he had wounds all over his body , I still feel sorry for him now, the only thing we talked about was one more day Aad , one more . And he made it . The true troopers

Personally gutted for Mads Pederson who must have spent the last two months on 15 min efforts almost exclusively in a bid to grap that Yellow Jersey. To say this is tricky is an extreme understatement. Every TT bike I've owned is made to go in a straight line, technical, and wet is a nightmare for these pro riders. Make fun of Lampaert's socks, but they keep the air, like dimples, closer to the calf, saving 15 watts.
