Well Laszlo, that has to be one of the most phenomenal concepts taken to fruition I've seen in ages! Love that you picked one of my favorite Doors songs to be done by Knopfler and Dire Straits. Not only that, you absolutely blew my mind with the stone perfect Knopfler vocals and playing. I certainly hope Mark has a chance to hear this sometime, I know he'd dig it! Bravo sir-top notch!

"Riders on the storm" was the first single I bought from my pocket money more than sixty years ago. It blew me away then and now this Knopfler version blows me away again! How I wish my brother could listen to Laszlo's Dire Strait renditions of our favourite music too. He was a huge Knopfler fan and attended all of his concerts in the Netherlands.
@Marcus_C513 ай бұрын
@@ankejansen791 Wow-the first single you ever bought? Nice! Yes, I loved it when it came out, LA Woman is an incredible track too. Also The Changeling, Love Her Madly as well plus the blues stuff Jim sang so well too. Sorry that your brother couldn't hear Laszlo's Knopfler playing, he's really does a fine job getting so many nuances of Mark's playing down doesn't he? Knopfler is such a master, I've always revered him. A real treasure. Thank you for posting, I've had reminder notices in my journal to come by Laszlo's channel but hadn't made it back yet. Appreciate it! He is such an excellent guitarist and plays so many styles really well.
@RapidGeezer965 ай бұрын
I played it again at 3/4 speed, sounded amazing. The tempo is closer to the original and the complex guitar licks are really are brought out. Its more bluesy and edgey and it fits the lyrics better. Its worth a try. 🤔

The matrix is there, whatever you put through that matrix will sound phenomenal. Realistically, with this kind of skill, ANYTHING will sound like the Dire Straits, even Edith Piaff, Toto Cutugno or... Eminem. This channel is pure gold.

@@saskk2290 Jim Morrison, Singer/Poet - Ray Manzarek, Organ/Bass on organ - John Densmore, Drums and Robbie Krieger, Guitar. Krieger is a great player, and writer/cowriter of many of the Doors classics, His playing may take a while to really hear and understand how deeply woven his play is into the songs. It may appear to be in the background, but it is often very intricate.

This is a cool Sultans of Swing x Riders on the Storm mashup of sorts, played beautifully of course. But Dire Straits has a lot more depth than just upbeat rock songs. Given that tracks like Brothers in Arms and Telegraph Road are super toned-down Dire Straits hits, I would actually be curious to hear a "Knopfler-ized" version of Riders on the Storm that was more faithful to the tone and tempo of the original Doors classic. I think that might be even more interesting.
