Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit kzbin.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

One thing i like to do when dropping baits using the snell rig. Stuff the squid with semi frozen pillies 👌. Push the head of the pillie into the tube of the squid. all the way up and your first hook on the squid goes through the tube and through the head of the pillie, it makes the suid look round and tight bodied in the water, u get the white and tougness of the squid and it puts out the awesome smell from the pillie without losing the pillie every 30 seconds. Ive been fishing multiple times when others are baiting just one or the other and this combo trumps everytime. When bottom bouncing, i have a 3 way swivel, the bottom swivel goes to the sinker with ~1m of line. The line to the snelled hook comes of the sideward swivel. The hook line is always shorter than the sinker line by ~200mm. Make sure the snell hooks are the length of the tube, i find the lumen (lundy's) squid box is best as they ensure that all squid are the same size. make sure your pillies match ur squid size or visa versa.
@meyou-fj3qt4 жыл бұрын
when the rig and sinker bounces over the reef as you drift, the squid will drift nice and freely above the reef waving. The only downside to this rig, is after about 10-15 drops, the 2 lines can start to twist around eachother and create memory. if this happens more than once when u bring it up, replace the rig (i usually have 2-3 pre-made per person on the boat). Even with this downside its well worth it as it is much, much better than ur charter style snapper rig!! when u get home, cut the twisted memoried line off and remake the rigs with fresh line for next time.

Hey mate. You promo the Lowrance very well without the kind of bullshit that that ex rugby players does so I subscribed. Hope you get some sponsorship for this video. BTW, dont promo the size of the HDS because as they say "size doesn't matter". You get the same features on a HDS 7 as you do on a HDS 12. All the best and "tight Lines"

Hey mate. You've never had a drama with not having the top hook fixed via a snell? Given it's not fixed, if the line between the 2 hooks becomes tight, the bait can start to curl and spin? 🙂
@HellenicRambo9 ай бұрын
You dont use livies? Im all for dead baits for jew but they get hit by other fish where as livies dont usually get touched unless its something big enough to swallow it.. Good tips none the less
@fernanmartinez16994 жыл бұрын
Hi Bobby From your experience catching jews, do the squid baits need to be freshly caught? Or can i perhaps catch them the night before, freeze them and then use as whole or strips the day after? or is it true that squid baits must be within 6hrs of catching them to get jews. Thank you in advance 🙏🙏🙏
@RIDETHATFISH4 жыл бұрын
Fernan Martinez Hi fernan , Sorry for the late reply mate I never seen this sometimes I miss some of these messages so I do apologise, the squid is obviously better court fresh or bought fresh but as long as a snap frozen it still catches fish months later no need to stress tight lines buddy
@qeull5 жыл бұрын
Interesting vid. Don't know how you can put up with all the" noise" and clutter Lowrance has on their screens.
@RPOLIVNICK5 жыл бұрын
Nice you're sharing the knowledge, Most guys don't catch and release though so hopefully the Hawkesbury fishing stock (jewie stock) can sustain the increased exposure of large facebook groups, Instagram and youtube etc. Not saying you are doing anything wrong. Just hopefully big future catches and online posting it doesn't recreate what happened with the kingfish in the middle harbour a few months ago when there were 60 boats in the same spot wiping them out.

Love your vids, can i ask for your advice? I have a stradic 4000 paired with a 4-10kg rod... is this a strong enough rig for jews? I also have 5000 and 6000 reels paired with pe 2-4 rods, im guessing these are overkill? Thanks man
@mikaeljokic8867 Жыл бұрын
Hey mate, the Stradic 4000 with the 4-10kg rod is perfect for small/medium jews. 6000 with the pe2-4 rods Is perfect for the big jews

Ok nice video A couple or things,1the stinger hook is the second hook in the tail but still a good rig up,2 yes good bait but the best is live and that's a given, 3 ok if you give them a smorgasbord and this is a good way to rig nothing against you way thread the squid over the yaka or whatever you cought then as you disd threw the mouth but use a short stinger . Ok why am I saying this and how would I know things like this because I lived on the river at barpoint rescue base and fished EVERY day on my time off,I also worked the lizard island marlin sessions for 10 years as deck hand and skipper I hold a or should I held a master 4 commercial ticket no longer do I hold this threw having a stroke I also worked as five instructor at the old sea plane base palm beach for many years so U do understand the waters there here in now Yamba and the GBR (great barrier Reef) lizard island,I'm in NO way saying your wrong apart from the stingers wording but I'll say again I enjoy you utube chanel and will now subscribe to it as I'm enjoying you enthusiastic way of presenting your show nice work young fella the river is a great place. A tip bug lizards yes you have got a few good ones but try the Brisbane waters in the out drugs using the sand bars it's off to in size and quantity, ok tight lines .
