Thanks. I ended up buying a 10" non sliding miter saw. It is small enough to just leave the stand setup all the time now.

You need to swing the turntable all the way over to the left & also set the blade/motor over to the left 45° bevel. That way you’ll bring the mass of the saw towards the stand.

Thanks, I will give this a try. I have just been leaning it up against a wall in the corner of my garage.

FWIW these compact miter saw stands are not meant/designed to store the saw. The material support/stop with the legs are meant to store the stand upright and the instructions state to remove the saw when collapse the unit for moving around the job site. With that said…I get the points made about mods to make it work. The stands that are the next level up in price @ $200 are made to store the saw. I’d say just hang it up on a wall using the handle as the hanging spot, or use a bungee to secure it to a wall if you have a fixed storage spot.

That makes sense to me. I did not read the entire manual, but I will take your word for it. I currently have the miter saw stand resting on a wall, with a hook to hold it in place so that it does not fall over. I might try buying a smaller miter saw to use with this stand, but the current setup works well enough for my needs now.

Nice! I have this stand for the Ridgid 7 1/4 cordless miter saw…and hang the whole unit on the wall.

@@dougberscak1043 I really should buy a smaller miter saw to use with this stand, but I hardly use the miter saw that I have for it. I try to use my table saw as much as possible.

Ridgid makes one with bigger wheels that is bulkier and is designed to store the saw while attached. I agree with this response in the sense that it’s not designed to store the saw while attached to the stand. Currently in November 2022 is on sale for $169 at Home Depot. Thank you for sharing your video and experience.

Could you not "bevel" or lay the saw to the left before collapsing... Im really wondering bc im aboit to go buy on to put my bauer on
@WrongTimeWatch

That does help with the footprint, but did not fix the Tipping issue. If your miter saw does not weigh as much as mine, it should not tip as much.
@kenturner3268

That just isn't the proper stand for a 12 inch saw. Ridgid makes one as well as dewalt(the old porter cable stand) and bosch gravity rise. Toughbuilt makes a truck style stand also. I'LL BE LISTENING FOR THE CRASH.

I did a little bit of searching, and have seen some mixed results. Looks like some folks have issues with it tipping over with just a 10" saw in storage. Seems like it is not meant to be used in storage with the saw still attached. The stand is rated to 400lbs though, so I can hold my 12" compound sliding miter saw when in use.
@MichaelJohnson-lx2dl
@MichaelJohnson-lx2dl 3 жыл бұрын
You should move the saw back up a little bit, turn it as far right as it will go, lock it. And be sure to store it close to the wall, saw closest to the wall.
@WrongTimeWatch
@WrongTimeWatch 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, that's a great idea to minimize the footprint of the miter saw on the stand when folded up.
@Mibootcamps_getfit
@Mibootcamps_getfit 2 жыл бұрын
That is correct. The slide should be all the way in and locked and the miter set to full lock in either direction for storage.
@WrongTimeWatch
@WrongTimeWatch 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I have tried that and the 12" compound sliding miter saw that I have is just too big and heavy for this stand to hold it up while in storage mode.

Thanks for the video. I was wondering if placing a 1x4 or a 2x4 under the two support legs would have prevent the unit from tipping since it seems to till too far forward. This would make it stand more upright. I like the overall unit if the vertical storage problem can be resolved. I was also wondering how stable the unit is when cutting. it looked like the support beams for the saw shook a little when you slid the saw forward and backward.
@WrongTimeWatch
@WrongTimeWatch 3 жыл бұрын
I have used it for about 30 cuts so far and it seems stable enough. I have not cut anything too heavy with it though. You probably could put some wood under it to store it in the vertical position, but I would probably knock it over somehow.
@rkjoat
@rkjoat 2 жыл бұрын
The work support that's being used for balance needs to be longer so it extends out further for upright storage. You could make a piece just for storage purposes. Square tubing welded in a T shape with rubber bumpers on horizontal end.
@WrongTimeWatch
@WrongTimeWatch 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the suggestion. I would like to buy a welder one day, and this could be a good reason to buy one. I currently have it up against a wall in my work shop so that it will not tip over.
@rkjoat
@rkjoat 2 жыл бұрын
Local metal shop? They could do fairly reasonable. I would otherwise just buy the metal tubing and use L-brackets with metal screws to fasten the horizontal bar to the vertical or attach with a overlap with bolt through.

@@rkjoat That is a good idea also. I will need to look at it some more.

Good Video @11.45 where the 2 Black Short Legs are - maybe make some wooden Block Extensions !!! 1"-2" so the KNOB is Not Touching the FLOOR and TEETERING the whole unit ? 4 Points of Contact - 2 Wheels and the Extended Short LEGS !!! This Should Make it MORE STABLE OR a FURTHER MODIFICATION is to WIDEN the WHEELS same WIDTH as the SHORTY BLACK LEGS !!! Thanks for Reply BTW just Sold my 10" King Canada Sliding saw and upgraded to a Used 12" Ridgid R4221

Just got mine and watched this to see what’s up. Only thing I can think of looking at mine is to drill another hole for the legs attached by the wheels to lock as legs where the balance point is. Just past so only minor weight on the legs? Bigger footprint but...?
@WrongTimeWatch
@WrongTimeWatch 3 жыл бұрын
That sounds like it could work. I personally would not want to drill holes in my stand though. I have not folded mine up for storage yet. However, I am planning to keep it against a wall with a bungee cord wrapped around the handle and loosely attached to a wall.

Very helpful. I'm sure you've figured out how to make it stand up better by using modifications (lengthening the legs) or external devices (2x4, etc.), but your demonstration proves that the product has a very flawed design, but I think it might work better with my 10" miter saw. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
@WrongTimeWatch
@WrongTimeWatch 2 жыл бұрын
I agree, it is not meant for a 12" compound sliding miter saw. You have a better chance of it working with your 10" miter saw.

I would suggest something a little different if you want to store your saw on it while folded up. Unless you have a smaller saw, then it might work better.

The Ridgid MS-UV is waaaaaaaay more stable than this sketchy thing. Like, 0 stability concerns.. Also considerably larger. One motion to fold and unfold instead of having to support the weight of everything on your leg while you try and fold things up.

I probably should have bought that one. It looks more like the stand that is used on portable table saws.
