Pleased to see you put up a picture of Simon Evans. He lived not far from me (Morden, SW London) and used to skate my local mini-ramp although that cover shot on RAD was taken after I stopped skating the first time so I don't ever remember him having that setup. He was a bit of a legend in our local area and I think he might have even turned pro? He skated with another wizard called Curtis McCann who got sponsored by Powell as an AM and had a short video part.

Yeah man as much as I loved those boards I hated them just as much. I broke a deck every few sessions sometimes just messing around. Flat concaves combined with narrower/skinny decks made for fragile boards. When they were 8.75-9.25 they were harder to fling around but they were tougher. By the middle of 93 they were tooth picks and they snapped like one.

I found two 8 inch wide by 31 inch long skateboards with 16 1/4 inch wheelbase and 52 mm wheels today, by (not in) a dumpster. I think they were blanks because they have cellophane between the trucks and the board. Speaking of the trucks, the trucks are exactly like the one in your video. The “sandpaper“ grip tape is coming loose on one of them, and the wheels don’t spin well on the other one. One of them had cobwebs on it. I don’t think they were used a whole lot. After watching your video, I can see why.

The setup is for parking and street, where ever you can skate. In the late 80s and early 90’ there weren’t many places to skate. So the tiny wheels design is for clearance on low curves or low cement/ concrete blocks for board sliding.

The wheel wells on that board don't look original with uneven cutouts. Are they worn that way from wheel bite or did someone take a power tool to that deck? My 1st set-up was a G&S slick on Tracker B-2s. That was in 93 or 94. It was skinny(under 8"). I just recently got back onto a slick and finally moved up to 8"+ sized decks. I'm riding a 8" Creature everslick now with a 8.25" DGK on standby.
@plasticpropeller Жыл бұрын
FYI they had no pop because everything was veering towards tech tricks that required for faster ollies not higher ones so they were made lower for less distance between the tail and the surface you were ollying on and as an added bonus lower center of gravity. The ramp boards of that era had larger wheels and more concave and kick
