This week Schony747 rides the Sydney Trains K Set Electric Train. The K set was first introduced in 1981 and was the first train to feature fully enclosed air conditioning for a Sydney suburban electric train. With more modern Waratah sets now in service, the use for the K Set is limited to weekday peak services. The train rarely operates on weekends. Come for a ride and experience a 1980s train. There's no internal screen showing next station and all announcements are made by the guard manually.

The K Set was a Goninan build but as you say maybe the parts came from the same spurce

Retire any K set right now. Started like an ugly bumpy start from Central Station along with the new Waratah on the other side of the platform

@@Schony747 and their retirements (might?) have been sped up, due to the Bankstown line being converted to Sydney Metro, relieving some to no longer be needed.
