Great summary of a fantastic, fun trip. Cracking route, so much to see. Memories that will last a lifetime. Who knew an R18 would go off road? Thanks Nathan.

A very timely and apposite summary, Nathan! Just when me and many thousands of people are thinking "F**k America, I'm never going back", you have brought it into perspective! It was a cracking tour, and the complete absurdity of the R18, added to it. To paraphrase your feelings of another bike, there's nothing wrong with the engine of the R18 as long as you only want something to power a ditch-pump!

Fantastic trip, can't recommend it enough. I was the lucky one who got the Harley. Chalk and cheese to the R18.

Used Eagle Rider in 2016 (Exellent). Wifey not a pillion person so we decided to get the big Harley. Back rest. Arm rests. Foot boards and all the lugage. "I knew she was safe back there, even if she fell asleep" This MONSTER made total sense over there, like you said it is part of the environment, they build them like that for a reason, it just works.......(Over there !)

Definitely something to save up for, I am interested. I'd love to go back to the US, as you say prices have risen, but then hasn't it everywhere. Great video and looked like an awsome adventure.

If going solo Rider Share is a good option to save money on rentals. You're basically renting from other individuals with the website taking care of insurance. I used it for a Colorado/Utah trip earlier this year.

Commented before the vid finished. I'd say I saved 50% using them as opposed to a company. But that was being flexible on what bike I went for. Going as a group it'd be a none starter.

Very informative and interesting video. Planning an American trip for 2026. Trying for 6/8 weeks and thought about buying a bike. Is insurance a problem? Thanks for posting!
@nathanthepostman2 ай бұрын
It can be. You'll need a US address and then contact the local Progressive agent. They should be able to help. Sounds like a great trip. Try Motorcycle Express if you're looking to take your own in and need insurance.

Sorry for the late reply Gary. Yes I've never done the buy and sell option but it could work out well and save you some money. New Zealand would be great. I've never been.but would love to. I might look into it for 2027

Spitballing a budget together for a RTW on my KTM 390 Adventure. Just been made redundant after 18 years service, so it's looking like a real possibility now rather than my planned 2028/2029. UK/Europe/Turkey/Georgia/Russia/Kazakhstan/Russia/Mongolia/Russia to Vladivistok. Playing with a budget of £10k for ferry and flights/airfreight from Vladivostk to Seoul to Vancouver, against Lavi & Ollies £7k for their Suzuki DL1000 in 2023. When I get to the East Coast of the States (wherever is best - NY I suppose) I will fly home to Glasgow Scotland, after arranging seafreight for the bike back to the UK. The bike can take as long as is needed and can come back to any UK port. Would you have an idea of how much that might cost for a slow boat/box service? Cheers, and thanks in advance

Not sure to be honest but I'd imagine a grand as a minimum. Moto Freight are pretty good for that sort of thing. Sounds like a great trip!

Cheap flights out of Gatwick. Loads to Las Vegas and under £500 return if you're lucky and bag a cheap seat.
@nathanthepostman2 ай бұрын
I suggest a particular flight out of a London airport on the Wednesday (trip starts Friday) for people to book themselves on to and travel out together. I don't get involved with the flight bookings as that'd be an admin headbanger and it's easy enough to DIY. If there's a group coming in on the same flight I'll then meet them at the airport with a white limo and Elvis in the back.

As they asked Honda why they built the v4 they answered "cos we can", so why philosophizing about the sense and nonsense of the r18? Not enough first world problems? ;) Uuh r18 is not good enough to be sold there? Esp from a guy defending the so called Chinesium back home that bravely, I'm surprised (Like zero resale value also).^^ But that are interesting thoughts, maybe someone in Berlin is listening, who knows. :)
@nathanthepostman10 күн бұрын
I don't think it's wise to talk about resale value in the same sentence as an R18 to be fair. Do you own one? Have you ridden one? If not go ride one. Some people are going to like them. You might be one of them

@nathanthepostman I just say it is odd to hear something like what you said in the way you said, from someone that embraces DIE regarding bikes (what I appreciate) like you do. Same quirky dude that shows up on an offroad festival on your CT next to the hardenduros and rides the shit out of it. Anyways nvm, I shouldn't have watched I guess. So long :)
