I remember taking the Yakumo maybe 10 years ago and filling in a questionnaire on board for JR. The staff gave me a nice JR pen as a gift.

That's great they were trying to get your opinion for the improvement! That kind of small gift can be the best souvenir with memory. :) It's far from Tokyo but I'm glad I could get on both old and new one.

Just rode the new Yakumo to Yonago Station and then took a short local bus ride to Kaikeonsen. What a great train ride and excursion. (Kaike was very hot even by the beach.)

@@tokyokenchan I would say the train was 80% full, with a lot of folks going to Yonago and Matsue. I went for a swim at 7am and the sun was already very hot but it was so enjoyable.

I am very much looking forward to see this video, as I love trains, and I am a fan of Okoyama, Matsue (here, especially the Adachi art museum) and Tswuwano (for the bamboo forest, the church, the small museums, the beautiful inari shrine and the very untouristy atmosphere). Thanks a lot for sharing this with us.

We did the San’in coast last April. It’s an incredible trip. There were virtually no western tourists anywhere to be seen. If it weren’t for having so much of Japan left to see, I think we would go back to see the many things we missed.

Hello, thank you for the Yakumo train introduction. In April I am traveling Hokuriku via Shinkansen which now extends to Tsuruga. Hope to sightsee places in Fukui and cherry blossoms. We also bought tickets for sumo Jungyo 4/7 at Toyama and 4/12 at Saitama Arena. Hokuriku Arch Pass allows other smaller local train rides to lesser-known areas with views of Tateyama Alps and Noto Hanto. If you have ideas in these areas, I appreciate your suggestions. Anna

I love Toyoma. Do visit the beautiful public library n the glass museum there. Kurobe gorge is also easily accessible from toyama n Takayama is a short 2 hr train ride. Shin hotaka Ropeway is another beautiful area, especially in winter.
@tokyokenchan7 ай бұрын
Hello Anna san. Thank you for watching and your message. Oh wow! That must have been difficult to get tickets for Sumo Jungyo. Cherry blossom delayed a lot this year, so it might be perfect for your visit in Fukui. Yes, Hokuriku arch pass is a joint pass of JR West and East and it's a great pass for traveling between Tokyo and Osaka, including those Hokuriku areas. Tateyama opens from 4/15 and northern Noto might not be ready yet, but otherwise there are lots of palces to see. I wish you the best trip in Hokuriku area. :)

I want to visit Izumo some day. Is train from Okayama the best way to go there?
@tokyokenchan7 ай бұрын
