Fantastic video mate, hooked from start to finish. And learned some stuff about my home city I had no idea about, thanks so much!

Thanks Steve! I’m wondering now whether I could have lowered the GoPro down on a string to get a view into the station itself! 😂

Excellent video! I knew you'd do an absolute cracking vlog of this trip! Those new trains look like alien craft as they wizz in and out of the tunnels!

Nice one Roger it's a place steeped with hidden gems..... I used to work at a place called Cathcart... it has a beautiful river bank and well known haunted grave yard that has many a story. Brilliant video once again...Richard in Newcastle upon Tyne 😊

When I was six I used to play in the botanic gardens especially where the trains ran down below in those days now it’s all gone. All the tunnels are blocked off

One of the most interesting things about Kibble Palace is that it was originally sited in the village of Coulport (now home to the UK's trident missiles), and was actually moved a reassembled in Glasgow. There used to be an active site called Hidden Glasgow (the site's basically dead these days) and some people on there managed to get into the old station. And back in the 90s and 2000s there used to be illegal raves held in the old rail tunnels!

Thanks Sue. That's really interesting about Kibble Palace. Ha ha, I can see it being a great place for a rave back in the day. 😂

Great to see the new subway trains. Also the visit to the Botanic Gardens. Didn't know about the old hidden station! Yes, can't get lost on the Glasgow Subway. Last on it a couple of years ago, looking forward to taking a trip, next time in Glasgow. Good vlog, Roger. 😊 👍
@RogEdwardsTV19 күн бұрын
Thanks Alan! There’s quite a few disused stations in Glasgow by all accounts. 😀

I sit on the fence about the new trains. Yes they look funky and futuristic and the white nice and clean. But my issue is I know how this ends. That shiny white will look grubby in no time at all and potentially graffitied and scratched. Then you’ll have wished for a darker colour that doesn’t show the dirt up.
@RogEdwardsTV4 күн бұрын
Thanks. They probably should have gone with orange with white lines to match the trains they were replacing.

Thanks for this, I have heard of the Botanics Line and seen it mentioned on the rail forum etc but it was interesting to see the remains of the old station. I will try and get a subway card first before I ride on the subway again. I enjoyed my trip to the Burrell collection a few days ago though, the walking route is very well signed from Pollokshaws West station.

Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed the Burrell Collection.

Thanks for a very enjoyable video. In the 70s, the entrance to the tunnel was open, and you could access the old station. Did it a few times way back then -- a very scary experience. It probably took only a couple of minutes to walk to the station, but it seemed like an eternity. And then you had to go back...
@RogEdwardsTV18 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing those memories. I think you could get access from the Kirklee end and the Kelvingrove end until quite recently - there are videos on KZbin of people who were brave enough to climb over the fences. But since the Batgirl filming in 2021\22 they seem to have completely barricaded all the ways in. 😀

Glasgow has a surprisingly large urban rail system, but what gets me is how much unused track and tunnels there are. And still no link to the airport!
@RogEdwardsTV19 күн бұрын
Yeah - hadn’t realised how many disused stations there are until I did the research for this video.
@GavinScrimgeour16 күн бұрын
There are abandoned railway tunnels south of bridge of earn, you can walk through both. You’ll need a powerful torch as in the middle you are submerged in darkness.
@RogEdwardsTV16 күн бұрын
Thanks so much for the tip. Just looked up the tunnels on Google. Could be an interesting trip! Cheers. 😀

@@RogEdwardsTV There's also the Bein Inn located near the second tunnel exit, which is an old famous hotel and restaurant. If you're going this side of 2024, I'd recommend good walking boots or wellies, as the summer hasn't been too kind here. There's also old brick Victorian infrastructure along the walk to the first tunnel and an old saw mill. It would be interesting to find the history of the area.
@RogEdwardsTV16 күн бұрын
Thanks Gavin. Most likely leave it until next spring and hope the weather is kinder to us in 2025. Lots to research before then. 😀

There is a way in to the station proper. Its not easy to find but there's videos showing it.

I think that I have seen those police boxes in Edinburgh too and I wonder if any other large Scottish cities have any like Aberdeen or Dundee?
@RogEdwardsTV19 күн бұрын
There a good number of Police Boxes in Edinburgh (maybe as many as 70), but they are a different design unique to the city and they don’t look like the TARDIS. Not sure if there any others outside Glasgow. 🤔

Shame, I believe you can get in there to the station , I've seen some KZbin videos that have easy access,,
@RogEdwardsTV19 күн бұрын
Since the Batgirl filming they’ve completely blocked off access from both ends, unfortunately.
