Riding on a London icon! The Routemaster in 2024! | London Buses T15

I used to get the number 7 route master from North Kensington to Paddington every day when I first moved to London. Never paid a thought to how it actually felt riding on one, it was just my commute to work. Went on a heritage route a few years ago and oh my days!!! Was it totally bone shattering!!! It literally broke my spine being on it! I still have very fond memories of them though. Especially the rasta conductor who used to pull the cord to slow the bus when I was late for work, I used to end up running up Barlby Road while he was shouting at me that I was late again!!! They were great for hopping on and off round Edgware Road and Oxford Street when the traffic was bad. Took some skill to do the run and jump sometimes lol. And always one ding to get off and 2 dings from the conductor to tell the driver to drive on.

Watching this tempted me to take a ride. Went from Tower Gateway to Charing Cross and was rewarded with open-topper WLT 644 on a perfect sunny day. Enjoyed every moment, £2.50 well spent!

Me too. Although I went on one a few years back and it was so bumpy and uncomfortable!! Can't believe I commuted on them for years Always the 23, 7 or 52 when I lived in Ladbroke Grove

i drive the T15 and we stop at the same stop as the 211 stands at waterloo just in front of the zebra crossing

I seem to remember riding on a number 8 from Bethnal Green in the early 2000s and for some reason I seem to think that there was a TV at the front of the upper deck. Have I just made that up in my head was it real?
