That's really just a fun trail to hit. So many other trails way harder around there. Looks like you all had a good time. Awesome video.

Yeah unfortunately I'm not too familiar with the area so I only made the title based on what I could find in the area using the info I had. It was a super fun trail though and a super fun area. Was a lot different than what we're used to going through in Florida.

Blazer driver here, glad you liked the video! Any other trail recommendations if we make it out that way again?
@abelsonaaron2 жыл бұрын
@@CrossingRover that area is fun, and a lot of trails around. If your back this way I'd say make the drive toward royal blue, Tackett creek area. It's about 1.5hrs from there. But so much to do and see. Alot of trails gave been gated by FS around here.

Brown Mountain OHV trail near Morganton. But it might be too much for the 2wd ranger

Hurricane Creek isn't too bad. There's a few spooky obstacles (the worst is the rock obstacle that gets you off-kilter on the side of a small cliff) but with some momentum and a good set of tires, 90% of it can be done in 2wd. The biggest thing is ground clearance. Lots of holes and lots of rocks.

This is after I’ve replaced the power steering pump too, I’m beginning to think it’s just a feature.

@@RKAdventures45 it is..i am based in Mexico and i just got myself a 01 2WD as well and i have that same steering noise..i asked my mechanic about replacing the power steering pump too but he said that some fords have this "annoying" noise. some do some dont.. dont know why..its just annoying when u make a turn...but hey these little trucks are "warriors" thats the term we use out here for toughened cars or trucks..
@RKAdventures452 жыл бұрын
@@danielhornilla1294 It's really crazy how Ford designed a nearly bulletproof truck in so many other ways but can't make a power steering pump! Unfortunately the steering rack on this one is now leaking slightly which is making turning in this truck even harder than it previously was.
@Laminar-Flow Жыл бұрын
@@RKAdventures45 I have an '04 edge, 83,800 miles and it has the same sound but only when the steering wheel is cranked all the way left or right. I think it is something to do with the power steering belt rather than the pump, but not sure. The truck has been amazing to me.
@RKAdventures45 Жыл бұрын
@@Laminar-Flow The thing is everything is on 1 belt, and everything else on that belt works fine! I have a new pump that I plan to install next time I have to tear into this thing, hopefully that fixes it.

Great video, but if you did it back the blazer could af done it, maybe pulling it on some parts but ok, after that small section all is better
@RKAdventures453 жыл бұрын
Yeah I definitely want to go back and finish the trail, we've had situations in the past where the Blazer gets truly stuck the Ranger really struggles to pull it out and this was looking like it could've turned into one of those situations so we took the safe route. Luckily, due to some additions to the vehicles we have for this channel that should no longer be a problem :)
@RichardVac3 жыл бұрын
@@RKAdventures45 I understand, I would like to try this trail my self, but sometimes the camara doesn't show the harshness of the terrain, maybe using recovery tracks on the deep rates so the vehicle doesn't high center
@RKAdventures453 жыл бұрын
@@RichardVac It's funny you should mention that, we actually did throw a recovery track in the deepest puddle before trying to get the Ranger out, can't say if it helped or not but looking back at the footage it looks like we at least ran it over at 5:12. Unfortunately the Ranger being 2WD means and only having 110HP means we don't get much of an opportunity to be too precise and crawl especially when uphill. I did start keeping a set of recovery tracks in the back of the truck about a year ago and they certainly have come in handy a few times.

It originally came with a open differential 7.5 rear end but we swapped a junkyard Ford 8.8 Traction-Lok onto it and put a 5.14 rear gear into it.

See my video on my channel to see this trail in the incredible fall recently. I also respectfully state that the difficulty of this trail is dependent upon the time of year and type of vehicle. Basic vehicles like in this video, then yes maybe hard and harder after snow and rain. But for a jeep on 38's, nahh. Lol. I do like your video for the dramatic element and fun that you guys obviously had making it. Good job.

The only way this is a difficult trail. Is your "offroad" experiences are gravel driveways. And now they have just graded it. It is less difficult.
