This is my first Kawasaki that I've reviewed. I wasn't sure what to expect as it's been a long time since I've even sat on one. I was pleasantly surprised. I like that it's a light/middleweight bike and very easy to handle. It's quick off the line and the throttle is sensitive with an easy clutch release. The dual throttle control helps with this a bit. This one is super fun around town and in stop and go as well. I really thought at speeds between 70-80mph on the freeway that it would vibrate or feel a little rough but not at all. It was very smooth at higher speeds and I think I'd do 100-150 miles before needing a break on this bike. Of course you should probably stop for gas at that point anyway. The retro look is nice and I like the color scheme. As Kawasaki celebrates 50 years with the Z Line, I'm really glad they put this bike on the market. I think it's a very fair price for what you're getting.
A big thanks to Kawasaki for letting me take this out. Click on the link below for more information and pricing.

Have put 13k miles on my 2020 model. Definitely a fun and spirited bike to ride. I love the retro look and the standard control positions, and always has plenty of power. It has a true overdrive 6th gear, which I think is great, others don't like that fact though. It has plenty of power for my needs -- it has much quicker acceleration than Harley Davidson's if you have experience in those bikes and want to compare.

Oh great, another bike I have to research and look at in person before I make my decision on what to buy. I'm building up my stable and it's time to add something sporty to my lineup and possibly even retro might be the answer. I started riding in 1973 with my first bike being a 1973 Kawasaki 350 two stroke, I have such fond memories of riding that red beauty and learning how to ride. I bought it for $1000 and had no idea how to ride a motorcycle. The owner of the shop let me take it behind his shop and ride it around a small track until I got the hang of it. He had to tell me everything, I knew nothing about motorcycles. I was able to limp it home and before long I was tearing up the streets! I've purchased another 8 bikes since but I'll never forget my first bike.

@@williambalyx1053 Sorry to hear about the 500 Kawasaki, that bike was insane, a two stroke widow maker, my buddy Tom had one in the 70's and in my minds eye I can still see him doing wheelies up and down our street. That 900 you bought was so fast in 1975, it was scary fast. After I sold my 350 Kawasaki I purchased a Honda CB750 in 1975, oh how I loved that bike. I bought another one in 2004 on Ebay for $3500 but my buddy convinced me to sell it to him. Now he's ready to sell it back to me!! When he does I'm going to do a complete rebuild, I can't wait. Hard part is parts are hard to find but where there's money there's a way. I just sold my 2017 Harley Low Rider S so now I'm in the market for another bike, possibly this retro Kawasaki. I have 3 other bikes now, a 2015 R1, a Honda CB1100 and a restored Norton 850 Commando. The wife is pissed, I make her park outside the garage now, heck, can't get the bikes wet!! 🤣🤣

Same here. Way back in 1981 I bought a new Kawasaki KZ750 4-cylinder and loved it. Before that I had a 1976 Honda 450 and I've ridden a few Harleys and other 2-cylinder bikes, but I just love the sound and feel of a strong 4-cylinder. A year ago I bought a 1987 Kawasaki ZL1000 but when I received it the crankcase was full of gas and the carbs clogged, and I haven't gotten to rebuilding them yet. I'm very much thinking to sell it as soon as I have it running and pickup the Z900RS. Love the blue as well. I do prefer shaft drive though, so I might just stick with the old bike. We'll see.

@@MotorcycleMonkey - Still thinking about it. The local dealer here (Oahu) wants about $17,500 for one, but has no idea when the one on order will even arrive. Much too steep. I have a ZL1000 that I bought a year ago but I need to rebuild the carbs. I will get that one running and ride it first, though I have been wanting the buy the Z900RS and then sell the ZL1000. I want a dual-purpose bike also, so I might just buy a Yamaha XT250 and keep the ZL1000 for the street. But still, that Z900RS keeps calling me.....

An old term that just means the shift lever always returns to center after being moved up for an upshift or down for a downshift, as opposed to a lever that stays in different positions for different gears.

Just bought one and I love it. Only 2 things I'm not sold on.. the seat, so I've ordered a custom one. Plus the suspension, even adjusted to suit my weight (92kg) it's just not quite up to spirited country road riding. Not saying it's bad, but it could be better considering they're selling it as a sports model.

@@advocate1472 the seat is from core motorcycles uk and is their custom luxury one, black smooth leather. Re suspension I've had the rear shock set for my weight and adjusted the rebound. Am changing the front fork oil to a heavier one.. Belray high performance 7w to improve the rebound damping as new valving is pretty expensive. I'm hoping with these changes the suspension will be good enough for spirited twisty hills riding. I reckon the front will but there's a chance the rear shock still won't quite cut the mustard and I may need to buy an aftermarket one that's suited better for my weight and has more adjustment. I'll see how it goes.

I have to agree with the seat. It's like sitting on a freaking piece of plywood. The 22 models come with the rear Ohlins suspension and Brembo breaks. It's just a little improvement from earlier models.
