I discovered that great climb to Taucho in January. You think you’ve reached the village at the top and then there’s another 3 or 4 switchbacks before civilisation. 👌

If you go back try the San Andres climb in the North East of the island. Its starts on the coast just a few km's north of Santa Cruz.

Great video. Rode that last climb today. My favourite one of my week here but every time a block headwind !

Yes you are correct, they are banana plantations. Often the huge banana bunches are covered in a plastic bag. I hope Masca was not too windy. It can be a nightmare if it is.

Yes they are bananas but you maybe wondering why are they covered. By covering them they can control when the bananas ripen which then allows them to bring the bananas to market in the off season after all the other growers have long since harvested. That allows them get a higher price for their crop. Clever eh!

I was in Tenerife in the 80s when I was child, all I saw was lava dust and bananas!

Liking the Tenerife videos... Getting a few ideas for a trip in November time. 👍 Random question for you... How do you get more efficient when pedalling? My glutes never seem to ache like my quads, obviously I'm not using them as much! Is there a specific technique when pedalling to engage your glutes more? Cheers 👍

To be honest I wouldn’t gauge my glute usage by the amount the muscle aches. We should all be doing flute activation before cycling though, even if it’s to help with knee tracking but at the very least aiding the pedal stroke with power. Monster walks with bands, clams, bridges. They will all get you going. If you want to try and engage your glutes more while riding sit back on the saddle a little and take the weight of your hands slightly. This shifts the weight and will help engadge, but try it up a climb first maybe, just to get familiar.

@@edlaverack I must admit... I never do any activation work in general nevermind before I getting out on the bike! That's something I definitely need to incorporate into my daily routine. I will also try that technique on the bike 👍

I hope this isn’t you at the moment, but I have found that those rare days when I start out not feeling great, but my performance exceeds expectations like that, I’m often about to be hit with a few sick days… Dunno why that happens, but it has happened enough over the years that it seems more than a coincidence.

GO TO THE OBSERVATORY! 2012 got to go there on a university trip. Ok yeah we had permission to be there but you can go to the national park at 2700m and see the universe

Tenerife is a fantastic place to cycle but it's getting too expensive to stay there imo.
