On your refrigerant lines you may want to make sure that your loops are horizontal and not vertical. The horizontal loops will minimize the chance of any oil pooling in the lines. Vertical should work, but when you build the cover, it may be a good play to make the loops horizontal. When you do make the cover, make sure to give it plenty of room to breathe. The heat pump will move cold to the outside and will need lots of vents and airflow.

Easy enough. Looks clean. I installed the EG4 solar direct unit. Same install process. Except for the solar array. But that’s just a disconnect for the DC and two MC4. Same pre charged line sets. It’s also plugged in to my off grid AC solar system but I limit my use to the times when the panels are in sunlight. Here in the desert southwest there’s a lot of days over a hundred degrees but the unit carries the load well enough. Works good as a heater as well though the hours of operation are limited. Still need another source of heat for the eighteen hours when there’s not enough sun. These kinds of units definitely make off grid more doable.

You know that this AC needs air to work, so you need to build a roof over it to make sure it works in winter time, under 2 meter of snow. It may also work as a heater if that function is there, and use way less power than electric heaters do.

The movie was Full Metal Jacket, Riflemens Creed. Words to live and die by. I'm a firm believer in MrCool DIY units. I have 4 set ups. One in the garage here in Florida, 600 sq ft. One in cabin in north Florida, 400 sq ft. One in Missouri cabin, and Wisconsin, all very nice and low maintenance. 😊 They're the 12K units, 40 minute installs by professional exterminator..lol 😂😅 Love ya'll ❤️

It's super important to torque the copper refrigerant lines down properly. In temp swings from winter to summer, leaks will develop if not torqued correctly.

If you want a true solar mini split go with EG4 which has ability to run directly off solar panel with grid back up. It has a grid limiter on it to give priority to solar first and grid only if needed.

this is like something ive been considering if my old original 55 yr old system turns out to be beyond fixing again. it was my parents place and ive kept it going for my mom n dad as they got older so we could keep prolonging its life but im afraid at some point its going to have something go bad that cannot be replaced anymore, or if it would have to be replaced due to it uses the older type of freon. so im really looking into these types of AC system like you show or the solar powered type version Ive just seen on another channel that looks pretty interesting.

Hi Marty, man and Jules man that’s only my opinion and I know doesn’t count for much when I got my air conditioning installed here in Australia. The air conditioning installer said it is better to install on off the ground otherwise when they’re on in your whipper snipping and mowing around them, and even daily use, they will get a whole heap of dirt inside and where you live you’ll get covered in snow , anyway, you know what you’re doing maaaaaaaaaaan , from Australia maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan

Hi guys, love the progress in you mention! Martin, did you come to a decision how you going to make the motorcycle ride video(s)? It would be great if you could cover some riding whenever, in part of the usual building videos and when you go for the tour, make full bike riding coverage but don't make them too short, I rather watch most of everything. Do you know itchyboots? Noraly riding for the sixth or so season now? She got hurt in the last video in Africa. Well, I am enjoying both, building and bike videos.

Great video. How many amps can your battery back ups provide? I install hvac units for a living and regular split systems pull so many amps upon start up it makes me wonder if one of those would be possible on an off the grid system. Obviously mini splits use way less starting amps.
@ssoffshore5111
@ssoffshore5111 8 ай бұрын
Most systems would need a soft-start installed, and still require a pretty beefy inverter. Mini-splits are NP though.

We installed the same size outside compressor, but with 3 inside units about a year and a half ago. It didn't come with all the bells and whistles though. No tools or hole saw, no line covers, etc. In fact, we had to order the hoses for each inside unit as well as the power cords separately as well. Still, it was a very easy installation process. The hardest part was removing the power cords from each inside unit and replacing them with the correct size cords to plug into the outside unit. Very tight fit, and not the best instructions for that particular step. But here we are a year and a half later and no problems. The house is always cool in the summer, and warm in the winter, and you can barely hear the units inside the house. The outside unit is much louder than yours, but we don't hear it inside the house. Hope you enjoy it, we are big Mr cool fans now😄 PS, if anyone goes the same route we did, you can get cheap plastic gutter pipes, split them down the middle lengthwise on one side and use them to house the coolant and power lines for much less than buying them from Mr cool.
