That was West Virginia you're thinking of. Wisconsin was actually colorized in 1965, although it was a faded sepia until the late '80s.

Dale Markham, the older brother in this short, would go on to play college ball, do a couple of seasons in the NFL, and several more seasons in the short-lived US Football League in the 1980s.

Fun fact: my name is Stevie and I too live on a farm in Wisconsin. We do have hills like that in the Driftless area where I live. You have to cross I-90 to find it though, and the Dells don’t quite count.

@@freakyzed8467 It's funny because living in the Midwest, one of the things that blew me away when visiting family in Eastern Europe was that there was always a mountain range in sight / on the horizon. I always associate it with places like that, forgetting that there are places in the US that are the same.

My favorite area; for me a nice trip is from Madison to Dubuque on 151 then on to Route 20. this farm depicted is very flat and featureless so either it was filled in Dane/Rock/Walworth or they are somewhere in Illinois.

The description of the farmer's timeline for the day was spot on. 😁 Up at an ungodly hour to do chores, school, back for more chores, eat supper, maybe more chores, bed, wash, rinse and repeat ad nauseum. Being someone who has never been a morning person...😩 And then the getting up in the middle of the night if a cow was having a calf. I also remember the Surge milking machines. Another excellent video from you folks! Bringing the funny as always!

When I lived in "the rurals" we used to grow zucchini squash but let them grow all the way, so 2 feet long or more, and then I'd cut them up and take the seeds and goopy seed stuff out, boy was there a lot of that! I'd get the seeds out and wash them really well and dry them and toast them with some oil and salt, they were really good! And the pieces of huge ol' squash, the sheep loved those.

When it comes to the full-length riffs I just let them play in the background. Most aren't really worth looking at, anyway.

At 5:35, that music and the camera shots of them moving through the woods made me feel like they were going to encounter Bigfoot, esp. that music when the woodchuck comes out. And then that camera angle at 6:32, where it looks like something is looking DOWN on them from behind a tree. It seriously gave me Bigfoot movie vibes.
