I always associate it with places like that, forgetting that there are places in the US that are the same.

My favorite area; for me a nice trip is from Madison to Dubuque on 151 then on to Route 20. this farm depicted is very flat and featureless so either it was filled in Dane/Rock/Walworth or they are somewhere in Illinois.

The description of the farmer's timeline for the day was spot on. 😁 Up at an ungodly hour to do chores, school, back for more chores, eat supper, maybe more chores, bed, wash, rinse and repeat ad nauseum. Being someone who has never been a morning person...😩 And then the getting up in the middle of the night if a cow was having a calf. I also remember the Surge milking machines. When I lived in "the rurals" we used to grow zucchini squash but let them grow all the way, so 2 feet long or more, and then I'd cut them up and take the seeds and goopy seed stuff out, boy was there a lot of that! I'd get the seeds out and wash them really well and dry them and toast them with some oil and salt, they were really good! And the pieces of huge ol' squash, the sheep loved those.
