I live in upstate Ny too.. not far from southern tier. Used to go every year. I haven’t killed anything bigger than a 4 point since I started hunting years back. I only have access to public land these days.. but if u ever need a hand I’d be glad to help anyway I can. Great buck. I respect someone who respects these deer. Sometimes I respect certain ones enough to let them live another year.. maybe why I have only killed couple bucks who were already hurt.. idk.. I love deer and watching them grow.

Can’t believe that mature deer tolerated that blind and trees pulled over near him. Bucks in Mi would not even come into the open with something new like that. I find that amazing really. Those deer not pressured much?

NICE bro! I had one like that in my sights last year here in The Southern Zone and couldn't pull a 100% ethical shot as he chased does and had fawns all around him. Plus he was in some thick timbers a good 150 yards away. There was one point when I had my crosshairs on his chest and the little ones ran right into my shooting lane. It was hard, but I had to draw down and just watch that behemoth do his thing. A couple of day later, I shot my biggest buck ever (by girth), another pig on the other side of my property on Thanksgiving Eve when I just went out for a nice quiet sit in my plaid jacket and jeans so I can't cry. Plus I dropped a couple of does on opening day with my Marlin 336 30-30 on iron sights on her maiden voyage one right after the other within seconds so I'm kind of proud of that. Congrats man. You put in the work, you reap the rewards. Great stuff. This season, I have access to the best grounds here, no man's land, that I secured from my neighbor so I'm up to 50 private acres and it's where the big boys roam. I hope to beat my best this season (a monster 9 pointer with a broken tine back on opening day, 2020).

I think it’s underrated because it’s harder to hunt, can’t just walk into a bean field and find 140s like you can in the Midwest

@@samgoral4 The hunting population is much denser in NY. A lot of deer are harvested before maturity. Recently more people are following the let it grow approach and we are seeing larger deer. shot my biggest last year as a 129" 8pt and 210lbs dressed. Hoping to better that this season

@@JustHuntClub Thank you! You as well. It really is depending on the region you are in. I am in 7A right at the split between northern and southern zones. I have been looking into trying an ADK hunt. Cutting a set of tracks and stalking through the Adirondacks seems like a real adventure.

@@josephjardine8380 these deer are in their natural habitat, just different habitat then you’re in. You track a deer in New York or any other state without miles and miles of public land you don’t have the room. It’s just a different style of hunting. You have to adapt to surroundings. Just because you track deer vs wait on one doesn’t diminish either of the hunting styles. You should be glad they’re able to get out and enjoy their hunt just as much as you are.?
