Just picked up a Cross a few days ago. The weight alone has made it my favorite rifle I own. Great video, thanks.

Just shot my scout at a rifle marksmanship competition. 150 rounds equally spread between 100, 300, and 500 yards. I placed 5 out of 16 shooters, most of who were using decked out prs rifles.

That range is right in the scout's wheelhouse! Well done.

Well said on the Steyr, stock ergos are fantastic for me, trigger is great, the bipod is handy since there are few trees where I occasionally traipse to lean a rifle against, the optics mounting rail gives enough options for types of optics and balance point. The one slight neg is one of my mags requires a vigorous bolt cycling to be 100% reliable at feeding.

Another great video, I love my Scout .223! I noticed you have two butt pad extensions removed. I'm 5'9" and find the overal length of pull with all pads mounted a bit short, especially when I'm switching between other rifles. But you are right, the stock just jumps into place! Also, I've found that I can easily load 2 rounds straight into the magazine from the ejection port! I wouldn't want an AICS mag in the Scout for the life of me.

Try running without them. It makes a big difference. During a scout rifle class, we had a guy 6’2” who removed them and never looked back. The only time you need them is if you’re doing a lot of work from prone.

@@cliffy109 Thank you! I will give it a try.

The biggest draw back for the Steyr scout rifle and other scout platforms run with a forward optic is that only all of those long eye relief optics available are all two or three generations of tech behind. The rifle itself is fine!

Agreed. Note the scope on this one is no longer available. Were I outfitting one today, it would wear an LPVO.

I just picked up a steyr pro hunter III, I hope I like it. I still want to get a scout some day, though.

The closest thing to a scout i have is a Ruger Frontier with a forward mounted Leupold ier scope. The rifle is lightweight and easy to cary with one hand around the receiver like an old Winchester 94.

That’s a nice rifle.

I’d love a Steyr scout.

The new one has a couple of real upgrades. An actual Picatinny trail and threading on the barrel that doesn’t require an adapter are big improvements
