Rich Robinson and Marc Ford were the Black Crowes’ Ronnie and Keith during the peak of the band’s historic run. Back together in the newly formed The Magpie Salute, Robinson and Ford remain a two-guitar snarling attack that grooves hard with tube-driven tone and show us their wares before a gig at Nashville’s Marathon Music Works.
Robinson’s beloved 1968 Gibson Les Paul goldtop was nearly destroyed in Hurricane Sandy. Now totally restored thanks to the loving people at RS Guitarworks, Robinson maintains that the guitar sounds better than ever. This guitar is strung with D’Addario EXL 140 (.010-.052) strings.
Ford spends the majority of the set on his two Asher guitars. Here is his Asher Electro-Sonic goldtop. The string-through-body design sports Novak pickups, CTS pots, Emerson Bumblebee tone caps, and a TonePros bridge.
