Good choice! We had a Bilbo’s side pop top back in the late 1990s. One night on Orkney, the wind was blowing a gale directly against the solid side of the pop top and it didn’t blow down. Mind you, I didn’t get any sleep because our daughter was in the roof bed and I thought I might have to jump up at any moment to rescue her if it did come down.

@@LifeistooshortCK uhm there are so many pros/cons with either option. That said we still have our now 20 year old Bailey caravan stored on a site in the Loire valley , we spend 2-3 months there and take short trips away ( 4-5 days) in the camper. T6 makes for a great day van as well, and T6 size makes easy'ish travel around the France D roads so beats the car/caravan combination and with France being so well set up for campervans makes for a great extended holiday. Off again in 4 weeks.

@@LifeistooshortCK van is stored onsite we book dates and arrive to caravan washed, pitched, electric hooked up and ready to go. Huge tree lined pitch with only 12 pitches (adults only) on the site, like minded campers who have now become part of the family.

It's very easy to comment on someone else's van but I love our Wallas cooktop. We have no gas in our van at all. Diesel all the way with a Wallas cooktop and diesel water heater. Our water heater also has blown air through a radiator system and it's amazing. We only have one tank to worry about, diesel.

Great choice of van !. I don't blame Carol for wanting an automatic. We have a new auto van on order. In the meantime I'm putting up with my ex-Police advanced driver husband telling me when to change gear in our current van! Patience, they say, is a virtue!!! Pleased too hear that you have chosen the van you want, one thing I found out recently when purchasing my pickup truck was that any accessories fitted before you collect the vehicle from the dealership is classed as standard and doesn't affect the cost of the insurance after classed as a modification so cost goes up. Recommend anything you want fitting do it now, I remember in a previous video that you wanted heavier duty tyres would Bilbo fit them for you if you are only going off road basically dirt track once in a blue moon get All Terrain (AT) tyres sadly both types of off road tyres increases fuel consumption on paved roads full MT tyre you may as well have a tanker follow you.

Be aware, as I'm sure you are, that Camping Gaz refills are very expensive. It will push up your heating costs considerably now that you are not fitting a diesel system. Good luck with the new van!

Yes compared to LPG its exorbitant. The new van has a diesel heater so we are only cooking on the camping gaz 👍

a side raising roof is good for high winds, and I would get blinds fitted before you pick it up, they are a game changer. My T2 had curtains and they hang straight and your windows are not.

Life is always to busy, I am on a PhD research program and the wife is a nurse in the NHS so depends on when we can go out for a good 4 nights min. We average about 6 nights a month at the moment but may June and July we are all over the place , Orkney, nc500 (well out version) and a other great places. Cannot wait to see you both in the new van👍 is your new one a long wheel base?

@@LifeistooshortCK every parking spot has a curb of some sort that the extra length always fits over even goes under super low barrier the extra room in the van is soooo good with bed down you can do a dance with whats left but you may not dance so not needed 🤔🥰 x
