You seemed a bit like you were half joking, but Pochita is 100% a twisted version of a Jesus allegory. Which would make Denji the 2nd coming. Pochita is extremely benevolent in his own way, even before meeting Denji. As the Hero of Hell, Pochita rushed to save devils who called for help. When Pochita killed the offending devil, we can surmise that he would always accidentally kill the devils he saved as he went in to hug them. In Chapter 97 he explicitly says all he ever wanted were hugs, but he was so powerful he couldn't hug others without killing them. When Pochita kills Makima at the very start of Chapter 85 his pose looks more like he knelt down to hug her. As opposed to a traditional slashing attack like at the end of Chapter 88. Pochita maintains his immense benevolence after befriending Denji. While initially seeming hostile he was in a bad spot and quickly warmed up to Denji and loved him with all his heart to the point where he would sacrifice himself for Denji. Small but very funny, Pochita suffers a spear wound just like Jesus did while on the cross in Chapter 88. Pochita is also filled with Forgiveness. Pochita could have erased Makima during their fight. But Pochita, despite everything Makima did, doesn't seem remotely interested in ending her for good. He only really cares about reviving Denji some way, some how. He even ditches fighting Makima twice. He mostly comes across as if he just wants her to stop being so aggro. In Chapter 97 we get a better look at Pochita's thoughts on Makima. Pochita actually always sympathized with Makima. Just like with him and hugs, she wanted something but because of her nature was unable to ever gain it. And after everything that happened, Pochita only asks that Denji gives the Control Devil what she wants; an equal relationship not based on control or fear and to give her lots of hugs. And finally perhaps the biggest example is that Pochita literally erases the worst sins of humanity. He cures diseases. He calms nature. The holocaust, Nazis, WWII, Nuclear Weapons, the Aids epidemic, Mt Hio Eruption. Pochita literally erases the worst crimes humanity has ever committed. Has cured the most incurable of diseases. And has metaphorically walked on water and calmed the storms by erasing the Mt Hio Eruption.

Thanks for the long and detailed response! You made a lot of great points, although I wouldn't attribute them all to be allegories to Jesus with 100% confidence since they're a little non-specific. With that said, Fujimoto's also put some not so subtle Biblical nods in the same scene. For me, the most "Christ-like" quality Pochita had was his willingness to save those that ask for his help regardless of who they are, similar to how the Christian God forgives and accepts anyone that confesses their sins. But instead of forgiveness he gives them chainsaws. I think a "twisted version of Jesus" is a great way to put it. The thing about the spear is a great catch

Great video! During the anime adaptation I used to listen and translate all the lyrics from the endings, and I noticed in First death (ed8) in a part of the song, that deijī translate to daisy, in fact, the meaning of the flower name daisy is "day's eye" and this concept is expressed by Himeno being represented with daisies in the back cover of the third manga volume and in the ending 8. Also the ghost devil has no eyes and his whole body is covered in daisies
